safe driving pledge

1.

I will not drive while drinking.

2.

I will obey speed limits.

3.

I will drive at all times with both hands on the wheel. For best control I will drive with my left hand at 10 o'clock on the wheel and my right hand at 4 o'clock. Or with my left hand at 8 o'clock and my right hand at 2 o'clock.

4.

I will not be a "Show Off". Weaving in and out of traffic, racing, tire-squealing stops or tire-squealing turns are not safe.

5.

I will not "Tail Gate". I will stay a safe distance behind the car ahead of me.

6.

I will practice courtesy at all times, which means yielding the right of way whenever doubt arises.

7.

I will not lose my head over a blow out. If one does occur, I will hold the wheel firmly, steer accurately, and apply the brakes gently.

8.

I will be sure my car is safe to drive at all times. I will have my brakes, steering mechanism and tires in top shape always. That goes for lights also.

9.

I will always respect trains and train tracks. Before I drive onto the track, I will make sure I am not competing with a locomotive.

10.

I will be extra alert before pulling away from the curb.
