1963 Dodge Product lines
Lancer, Dart, Valiant, Signet, Dodge, Trucks and Tractor units

In Canada only the Dodge 220, 330, and 440 Series were built. The 220 Series was simply a downgraded 330 while the 330 was a medium price entry and the 440 was the top Dodge offering in Canada. From an exterior styling Standpoint, the cars were identical to those built in the U..S. but that is where the resemblance stopped.

Inside the 1963 Canadian Dodge was a Plymouth dashboard and trim. Mehcanically, the Canadian Dodge line was also different from the U.S. Dodge. The standard engine offering available on all models was the Slant Six 225 cubic inch engine that developed 145 horse-power at 4000 RPM. The standard V-8 engine was the 313 cubic inch 225 horse unit that had been used in previous Canadian Dodges. An option on all the models was what was called the Dodge Hi-performance V-8. This engine was the 4-barrel 383 cubic inch unit that developed 330 horse-power at 4600 RPM. Unlike the U.S. Dodge line, the Canadian Dodge dealer had no Dart compact cars to offer his customers. Instead he was given the Canadian Valiant. This car utilised the front end of the Valiant with the Dart rear ensemble. No 880 models were available in Canada.

This was also a very good year for Dodge in Canada where production went up dramatically. From last year's low of 8,950 units, Chrysler's Winsor Ontario plant turned out 17,287 standard size Dodge cars for the 1963 model year.

1963 Dart 170

Lancer was replaced with a new Dodge compact car for 1963, and in a massive model name reshuffle the new small Dodge bore the Dart nameplate. The Series 170 was the least costly of the new Darts. This 2-door model 711 cost $1,983 and weighed 2,614 pounds.

The new Dart was mounted on a wheelbase 4.5 inches longer than that of the "old" Dodge compact, the Lancer. Riding on the new 111-inch wheelbase, the standard power plant for the Dart was a 170 cubic inch Slant Six. The series 170 model 713 was an attractive 4-Door sedan that went for $ 2,041 and tipped the scales at 2,634 pounds.

1963 Dart 170 4-door station sedan

The largest and most expensive of the economical Dart 170 Series was the model 756 2-door station sedan. This 2-seat, 6-passenger wagon sold for $2,309 and weighed 2,735 pounds.

The ideal car for the economical young couple was the new Dart 270 convertible, Model 735. The convertible was an all new body type for this class of car with Dodge. It cost $2,385 and weighed 2,700 pounds. The 270 series, like the cheaper 170, was poweredby the 170 cubic inch 101 horse-power Slant Six. A more powerful 225 cubic inch slant Six, developing 145 horsepower at 4000 RPM. was offered for all 1963 Darts at a slight additional cost.
