About Me 2002
My name is Kyle. I'm 9 years old. I have began my racing career in a Rage cage Kart, which is the # 20. I'm currently 7th in my points.
I raced my first race on June 30,2002, we race two heats and a feature. In my first heat I finished 6th, second heat 6th and my feature I placed 6th. Not to bad for my first race out of 6 kart's.
My second race was on July 14, 2002, I learned more by watching my dad race, who race's in the Detroit Iron division, also at the track on Saturday night's. I pulled a daddy move so they say, which is going 3 wide, and in my first heat I pulled that move and kept lifting in the turn's. ( YOU ALL KNOW I'M LEARNING HOW TO DRIVE THIS THING) I finished 6th, in my second heat I came back with my first 4th place finish. ( MY DAD AND MOM WERE VERY PROUD.) It was now feature time and another racer and myself had an early get together and made us spin out, I was a bit nervous and I placed 6th out 7 kart's. Not a bad week again.
My third race was on July 21, 2002, And I did OK today. My first heat I finished 6th again, second heat I placed 6th again and my feature I got lapped by lifting again and got lapped going on the last lap. My dad and mom are really working with me to quit lifting my foot off the gas in the turns. ( I WILL GET IT ONE DAY)
My fourth race was on July 28, 2002, and I had to qualify today for my first time. I did pretty good with a 24.5 qualifying lap which isn't so bad. I ran only a feature race today, it was a long wait for us boy's, but I finished 4th today because of a CO-racer had trouble with his kart and to pull off the track.
My fifth race was on August 4, 2002. I did really well today, I know were my gas is, and I'm not lifting as much. My first heat I started on the pole and finished 4th, My second heat I started (5th) and got 5th. During an hour intermission another dad named Chris suggested to my dad to change the gear's and let us borrow one and it worked. I took home my first 3rd place finish in the feature, dad and mom plan on buying more gear's.
My sixth race was on August 18, 2002, I did good today. I started on the inside poll and led 4 laps and finished 4th in my first heat, second heat I started way back in 6th place and was racing a good clean race with another driver we fought to the finish. ( WE WERE 6TH AND 7TH AND DO TO TWO KART'S GETTING TOGETHER WE ENDED UP 4TH AND 5TH) so I got fifth. My feature was a different story I was doing well in the 3rd and 4th spot and we had our first caution and had to get packed back together again and then we had another caution with two brother's getting together, We started back up and this new boy who is learning to drive, took me to the wall two time's and I got ( nervous and fell back to 8th place out of 9 kart's.)
My seventh race was on Sept. 1, 2002 I did pretty good today. I did lift a little but I got 8th in my first heat, my second heat I got 3rd and 8th in my feature. I was a little excited because it was my first night race. I would like to thank Toni and Larry B. for coming and watching me race and taking picture's.
My eighth race was on Sept. 8, 2002, I did OK today I'm still lifting but I will get it one day. In my first heat I placed 5th, second heat I placed 4th and in my feature I got 5th. I would like to thank Shannon G., Willie W., My Aunt Sis, and My great grandma for coming and watching me race.
My ninth race was on Sept. 22, 2002, I did really well today. In my first heat I started third and charged to the front and finally got my first win. I was excited so was my mom and dad. In my second heat I finished second and that was my first 2nd place finish, and it was feature time and I got second I was working for my first feature win, but I do have next week to get it. I would like to thank my Uncle Michael and my Ma for coming out and watching me race. I would also like to thank my Ma Ma and pa pal for taking me for ice cream.
My tenth race was on Sept. 28, 2002, I did really good tonight ( WE HAD OUR SECOND NIGHT RACE DO TO A RAIN OUT) We ran one heat race and a feature, I lead most of both but again I started lifting. I ended up getting second in my heat and feature. We got trophies tonight for 1st and 2nd place's in all classes, thanks to CLS FINISHING and John G. I scared my ma maw and we had to call 911 for her and they took her to the hospital. She was OK thank you god. I would like to thank the following people that came to support me tonight, My Aunt Sis, my Great Grandma, Ma, Uncle Michael, Aunt sally, Missy, Tom, William, Pa pal, Ma ma, John, and Vickie. Thank you all for coming out it mean's a lot to us.
My eleventh race and my last race of the season was on Sept. 29, 2002, As my dad say's I drove my (ARSS) off. I did really good except the lifting. We ran normal today, my first heat I lead a lot of the race and ended up getting 2nd. My second heat I lead a lot and ended up 2nd. It was feature time and I lead up until 4 or 5 lap's to go and ended up getting 2nd place. It was nice today we had the Mini Cup's Join us today, Which mean's I had more people to watch me race ( my mom and dad's friend's race the number 4 and 27 mini cup's) I would like to thank everyone that came to watch me today Aunt Sis, Great Grandma, Tina (# 4), Steve, Savannah, Gage, Rob (# 27), Stacy, Chelsea, Lee, and Kris. I guess my mom and dad are going to take me to Michigan to race next weekend, we will keep you updated on that.
My twelfth race was on Saturday Oct. 5, 2002 We went to Michigan to race at Jackson Speedway ( which is a go cart and mini cup track only ). My buddy Dale D. JR. met us up there and it was a two car field ( They don't have our kind of car's up there). We ran two heat's and a feature, I won the first heat it was a close one, Dale won the second heat and the feature, we each got to carry the checkered flag and do a victory lap after the feature, and we got our picture's taken with the checkered flag and got trophies so it was a good night, we had allot of fun. It was a long haul we didn't get home until 4:00 in the morning. I would like to thank Tina and Steve for taking my car up there with Tina's mini cup. Without them it wouldn't have been possible for me to make my first out of state race. Thanks again guy's. I would also like to thank my Mom, Dad, Tina, Steve, Lee, Savannah, and Autumn for going and being there to help out. We are planning to go to 339 Speedway with Dale, to make our first dirt tracking racing debut. We will keep you updated on that.
My first banquet Oct. 20, 2002 I received my plaque and I also won a helmet, T-shirts, hat's, and an exhaust pipe. My mom, dad, ma, uncle Michael, ma maw, and pa pal went with me. We had a good time it was a really nice banquet. I would like to thank all the people who sponsored the banquet and for all who has supported me in my racing year. We are looking forward to next year.
Well I raced my last race on Oct. 27, 2002 at 339 Speedway in Beverly, Ohio not to far from West Virginia. My first heat, I was getting the feel of the track and finished in last place, My second heat I won it was my first win on a dirt track ( it was cool) and in my feature I won my very first feature. We would like to say a special thanks' to are good friend's Tina and Steve N. for letting us use their truck and enclosed trailer if it wasn't for them I would haven't ran a dirt track or my first feature. I would also like to thank the Dodge family for talking us into going, I would also like to thank my Mom, Dad, Uncle Michael, and Larry B. for going and being my pit crew for the day. This is our last race for the year.
