
INDY PACE CARS CONTINUED
-1991 Dodge Viper RT/10-

The Dodge Viper has been an instant hit since it's first
show in 1989. The dodge shadow was supposed to be the pace
car, but wasn't, due to delays. The shadow was a slow seller.
The engine was a 488-cid ohv V-10 with (400SAE net)hp.
-1992 Cadillac Allante-

The allante is one of the world's most powerful front-wheel drive
roadsters. So why do so many old people drive them so slowly!?
The engine was a 279-cid dohc V-8 with 290(SAE net)hp.
-1993 Cheverolet Camaro Z28-

The redesigned camaro was perfect for the 500. It featured
a 5.7L 350-cid ohv V-8 with 275(SAE net)hp. It also had
nice options such as 4-wheel disc brakes and s&l arm suspension.
-1994 Ford Mustang Cobra-

The 1994 model mustang cobra had a 302-cid ohv V-8 with 240
(SAE net)hp. The cobra was the first ford car to pace the
Indy 500 since the ford mustang in 1979.
-1995 Chevrolet Corvette-

The third corvette to pace the 500, this one was equiped with
a 350-cid ohv V-8 with 300(SAE net)hp. To explain the power of
the '95 corvette, the only thing changed for the 500 was a
rollbar! Most pace cars have to get new engines and accesories.
-1996 Dodge Viper GTS-


The Viper GTS is the evolution of the viper. The exhaust was
redesigned to be less rectrictive aginst the 488-cid ohv V-10 in
order to get 450(SAE net)hp! Other options were added, and the
use of aluminum made the GTS 100 lbs. lighter than the roadster!
-1997 Oldsmobile Aurora-

Oldsmobile developed a new Aurora 4.0L ohv V-8 with 250(SAE net)hp
world class engine to go in the Aurora pace car. The Aurora is
Oldsmobiles ninth appearence in the indy 500. The Aurora V-8
engine is the same engine used in the Shelby Series 1 sports cars.
-1998 Chevrolet Corvette-


The aw inspiring 1998 model indy corvette. This beauty has a 347-cid
ohv V-8 with 345(SAE net)hp under the hood. The engine reaches 350lbs.
of torque at 3600rpm and a top speed of 167mph. Only 1,158 replicas
were produced. The 1998 Corvette also won the 1998 Car of the Year
Award by Motor Trend Magazine.
-1999 Chevrolet Monte Carlo-

The new redesigned Monte Carlo carries a 90-degree OHV 3800 Series II
V6 engine which sports 230hp@5200rpm. This car has a variety of special
