*Sensor operator onboard the VDF Spatula* - "Captain, sensors indicate positive identification and lockon of the escaped modified Klingon warbird we encountered last week. It may have vital information relating to the theft and destruction of the stolen ship." *Captain S'Kuby, assigned to the rear-guard formation with her ship assisting the VDF Crucible, weighs priorities. Logically, being unable to assist the Crucible, one might as well take on the next highest priority..* "Hail that Romulan warbird and tell the captain that the Bird of Prey is a subject of a criminal investigation and hence under the protective custody of the Vulcan Government. Then hail that BoP and tell It's captain that we will protect it in exchange for information regarding the theft and destruction of the stolen warship, as well as its purpose in chasing after it." *The comm officers (there being two) hail the two ships and relay their respective messages...*

"Captain! The Defiant class we detected suspiciously decloaking just prior to the incident onboard the flagship has reappeared on our scopes. Probability of +65% that it is the cause of the attack!" - Vulcan Science Officer. "Launch a spread of tracker torpedoes immediately!" - Captain T'Killia. *With typical Vulcan efficiency, a spread of photon torpedoes fly towards the rapidly cloaking Defiant class just as it is being hailed on the comm. In moments, the photorps detonate... spraying the area with a shower of fine magnetized dust which rapidly clings to all ships in the area. The dust is harmless, but will negate cloaks.. Moving in unison, the other ships in the Vulcan police fleet close in and strive for tractor locks.*

Erisai dodges a preliminary blow and scrambles behind a security door. Another Romulan warbird, swooping into transporter range and flickered it's shields, beaming a scattering of surviving Romulans out. When Jadesfire breaches the door, there is no-one there....and the ship explodes spectacularly from a reactor leak caused by an on-target idiot.......

But, as the debris clears, something is still there...a red shimmering vaguely resembling the warbird that was there before...

The Vulcan Defence Fleet starship _Flawless Light_ sat majestically in orbit of Mars, flanked by three ships of equal size, including the damaged _Perfect Logic_, and five more only slightly less impressive. S'Tranak's small Science Vessel was now in the shuttle bay, being repaired by a team of experts. S'Tranak himself was in the starship's medical center, being repaired by an expert medic. A dermal regenerator was making short work of the remains of the nasty bruise left by Leroy's hocky puck. Standing nearby was Admiral Skarak, listening closely as S'Tranak recounted the evens of the past fortnight. Of particular interest to the miltary leader, of course, were the details of the battle fought near Neptune, as well as the unorthodox defenses deployed to save Earth. "So..", he mused aloud, "the Imperial forces we detected on the planet's surface are there, not as invaders, but as defenders? Defenders, in fact, against other forces of the same origin? We have long known the so-called 'Empire' to be disunified, but perhaps we have not fully grasped the extent of their problems. This will complicate our dealings with them, as it renders their fleets less predictable." When the account turned to the appearence of Leroy, and S'Tranak's subsequent recovery of his ship, minus a few items, Skarak interrupted with some concern: "Professor, you LOST a GENESIS DEVICE? And it is now in the hands of this.. unknown humanoid? I shall do you the honour, Professor S'Tranak, of assuming that you understand the seriousness of the situation! But since you are not under my command, but are accountable only to the Academy of Sciences, it is not for me to judge your culpability in this... unexpected set of events!" Just then an urgent hail from the bridge broke into the conversation. "Admiral! We are recieving a distress call from Captain Vorgen of the _Crucible_. Skarak bolted from the room, heading for the nearest turbolift that could take him to the bridge, leaving S'Tranak with the doctor, who, like all medics everywhere, wanted him to stay and rest.

Officer: "Sir, we lost our cloak!!!" Duker: "Damn...Deadeye, raise shields to full, deactivate all power that is not needed at this point and direct all available power to the waepons. Those blasted Vulcans, they are going to regret the day they messed with me. Move over Littlefoot, I'll take over. from here." Duker pilots the ship and slingshots it around the Earth, stops the ship with a jolt, and rotates it's nose toward the Vulcan ships at Mars. Duker: "FIRE!!!" The Instigator fires six photon torpedoes at one of the Vulcan ships. The torpedoes tear through space and speed passed the ghaytanHa. One of the torpedoes hits an idiot and takes it with for a ride, and then all six torpedoes, one with the help of an idiot, smash into the _Perfect Logic_ creating massive damage to the hull and engines. Duker: "Nice shot Deadeye, this is going to look good on you're record. Eat that Vulcans." Duker then takes his ship and glides up next to the ghaytanHa waiting for the Vulcan's responce.

First Alien : But you seem to be hiding something. Second Alien : Yes. There is something we must correct before we ask Cyborg Stan for this. First Alien : What is it. Second Alien *Hands the first a datapad.* We have to locate this. First Alien : Specimen #Il-219-JK? What would he want with a specimen?

Aide : And then what? Cyborg Stan : They let me go. Aide : How very odd... Cyborg Stan : Indeed. For some reason, they need me for something, something they cannot force out of me. Aide : So what are you going to do now? Cyborg Stan : I suspect that they had a few other tasks at hand. That leaves us with a bit of time until then. Aide : Affirmative. *End Transmission*

"Lock main phaser arrays on that ship's weapons banks! Fire when ready!" From the 3 Vulcan capships and their 5 escorts, incandencent phaser beams lashed out with pinpoint accuracy across space. Within a second the _Instigator_'s shields were down, and its main armament inoperative. "Hail that ship" ordered Skarak. "We should find out why they are attacking us".

The damaged Defiant-class starship found itself surrounded by 8 fully operational Vulcan warships, with phasers locked on and photon torps primed. Several tractor beams shot out and grabbed the stricken ship. On the bridge, smoke was pouring from some of the consoles, and agent Screwloose lay unconscious on the deck. On the main screen, the Vulcan flagship loomed ominously. The transmission was heard again: "Attention unidentifed vessel. Explain your illogical actions! Further hostility on your part has a 97.33% chance of resulting in your death. Respond!"
