Dropping from Warp as it entered the inner solar system, Vulcan
Mobile Spacedock #5, escorted by 3 light cruisers, came to a relative stop
in a high orbit around Mars. A small fleet of "tugboats" with high-powered
impulse engines emerged, and helped to tractor beam the damaged _Perfect
Logic_ into one of the docking bays, where it would be determined whether
to repair the ship on the spot, or take it back to the main Vulcan shipyards.
Erisai's Warbird and Captain Vorgen's damaged _Crucible_ were also taken
in tow.

Meanwhile, Admiral Skarak considered the matter of the missing Gensis
Device. Great numbers of Remote Probes were sent forth from the ships,
to scout the solar system for any trace of the distincive protomatter signiture.
Soon all the inner planets were "cleared", and the probes turned their
attention to the moons of the gas giants, and the outer system.

Standing in font of the newly constructed Gattling HVIC, Duker finds
it hard to cope with the story that Smithy told him. He keeps going over
in his mind to try and find out if it is true. Thirty years ago, they
say that I was sent away from home to the Sol system to gather information
about the human race as a genetically altered gnome. Smithy tells me that
as I went through the portal, something happened that made me forget where
I came from and what my job was. For thirty years I have known myself to
be human, and now I am supposed to believe this crazy story. Yet something
inside me tells me that it is true. They said they will do a genetic scan
of my DNA to prove it to me, so until then I will try to keep my train
of thought on what needs to be done. Duker: Ok, are we ready to test
the HVIC. Gnome technician: YesSir. Thedummyidiots areloaded andreadytofire.
Duker: *rolls his eyes at the fast language* Fire! The Gattling HVIC,
GHVIC, rotates toward the sky and the giant barrel begins to spin faster
and faster, and all of a sudden the GHVIC starts rapidly shooting out the
dummy idiots. As the idiot chain loader zips into the gun, the gnome that
is monitoring the loader looks down at it and is snatched up by one of
the idiot holders. GHVIC: Live idiot detected. Transferring full power
to firing pin. Duker: Well, this is what its for. After the dummies
are fired, the live idiot is launched further and faster than the rest
and is hurled off into space toward one of the suns. Duker: *Slapping his
hands together.* Looks like were almost ready to go. He he he.

Fascinating, Mel thought as he listened in the shuttlebay of the
ship, ostensibly preparing to destroy the Far Star, but now having second
thoughts... Somehow, his Spider brother had gotten his brethren to disable
the alarm systems, convincing the hapless security personell into believing
that it was just a drill. This ruse would work until one of the security
heads reported in, exposing the scenario. Hopefully, though, things will
be well in hand by that point. Watching the bay doors open, Mel had been
shocked to see TDK's vessel nosing it's way in, it's captain coming down
and trying to gain access to the Far Star. Suddenly, Mel's plan completely
changed. Opening a channel to a spider sitting in a shuttle in a far corner
of the bay, he updated his mirror on an updated plan. He also noted that
Jadesfire's group was talking to no one, while Elisia stood, mute. Not
attuned to the spiritual plane, Mel understood, nonetheless what had happened.
Quickly, he assembled a packet and sent it to Elisia with words of comfort
and requests for continued strength, aquiescence, and above all, resistance.
Now was not the time for sacrifice, Mel saw. There was still a way to salvage
this situation. Noting TDK and his men trying to get into the Far Star,
and completely missing Jadesfire and Co. getting into theirs, despite the
crack security team of DC and Scorpion, Mel formulated a plan. One more
deception would be in order... Walking up to the HVIC fodder that TDK had
employed as guards, Mel, having assumed TDK's form again, made a senseless
grumble at the two, who, of course, let him pass. Getting on board, Mel
then went to the transporter room. His spider duplicate had revealed to
him the locations of all salvaged technology taken from the Far Star. Using
the controls, first checking for life signs in the vicinity (there were
none, they seem to have gone to lunch), he beamed all components to the
Far Star. Beginning a diagnostic cycle, he halted it midway, his studies
of the computer core indicating that this would reset the short term memory
of the transporter buffer. No one would know what he had just did... going
to the transporter, he beamed himself over al well, it's traces, too, vanishing
from the computer...

On the Far Star, Mel noticed the uplink terminal the tech's had
been using to analyze the Far Star. Walking over, he noticed that it's
link was still active. Excitedly, he accessed the terminal, placing a virus
into the system, a simplistic one, but sufficient. The first time anyone
attempted to access the collected data, the virus would activate, shredding
all files relating to, crosslinked, or in any way referenced by the Infinitech
data. Should be crippling, but not deadly. They can restore from backups,
with won't have this data. Mel smiled, evilly, as he set the virus loose,
then spent a few frantic minutes getting all the components in place, letting
the nanos finish the installations... As that happened, Mel allowed the
nanos to dissassemble the network terminal, incorporating it's technology
and interfaces so that, in the future, data extractions from ships like
this would be much more easily facilitated. Activating an external sensor,
Mel watched as TDK, in a panic, yelled at his two flunkies and ran back
on board, obviously realizing what had happened. 'That should distract
them...' he thought, as he peered to the other group in the bay, the Far
Star repairing around him....

Elisia was feeling a trifle better. Since Mel had updated her on
his escape and a revised plan, she had been determined to do this right.
To do so, though, she would have to play along with Jadesfire's plan, while
at the same preparing for the confrontation that was to come. For now,
though, she would help, willingly, if only for the greater good.... Walking
with Mech and the clone Jadesfire (I'll have to get her alone sometime,
thought Elisia, perhaps she will help me), Elisia found the two guards
hopelessly inept. Going on board, it was easy to get what they were supposed
to and get out, tranducting a jolt to every Skeleton Crewmember that happened
by. Leaving the ship, Elisia looked back at the Far Star, knowing that
soon, it would be spaceworthy again...

"Every other minute, someone is betrayed for money. Others may be
betrayed for the sake of power. Others to get their women. But the greatest
and the deadilest of betrayals are for neither of these reasons. They are
betrayals from those who think they are right, and would stop at nothing.
These are the most dangerous people...."

Admiral Skarak, Professor S'Tranak, and their two Romulan guests,
Erisai and Mitch, beamed aboard the Mobile Spacedock, to be greeted by
its commander, Vice-Admiral Surtak, and its Head of Operations, Chief Engineer
S'Pannar, who assured them that the _Perfect Logic_ would be spaceworthy
shortly, as would the other two damaged ships. "We'll even have your Warbird
as good as new within a day!" he told Erisai. "Want to come and see how
things are going?"

Standing at a large window, the party was looking out into the main
repair bay. It was huge. The _Perfect Logic_, secured in place by tactor
beams and mechanical holders, was being attended to by a myriad of technicians
and exocomps. As they watched, a section of damaged hull was carefully
excised with strong cutting beams, and then beamed away. A moment later
brand new hull was beamed into its place. Mitch turned to his Vulcan hosts,
on worried look on his face. "Please don't tell me" he said in a tone of
disbelief, "that you are simply *replicating* replacement components on
the fly!" "Oh no, we plan to sooner or later" replied the Vice-Admiral,
"but what you're seeing is simply modular replacement from our supply of
space parts. We use the transporters to move things into place simply because
its a lot quicker and more efficent than placing and welding by hand."
At this, the Chief of Operations spoke up: "Eventually, we will be able
to do repairs simply by beaming in the damaged ship, editing the pattern
buffer, and then beaming it out, good as new! But we're long way from that
yet. Still plenty of old-fashioned work needed. This station is quite cutting
edge though."
