...He sighs, double problem. Posters talking about LurkerSpace,
and worse yet, begging a ride. The council would flay him if they knew
he was even asked... Of course, But, it will take some time. ...What would
they do to him if they knew? He didn't even dare to think about it. He
pulls out a small communication device, and sends a message to his ship.
Moments later it's very close, almost touching the hull of the Far Star...
Don't worry, I know what I'm doing. ...The LurkerShip rams The Far Star,
but no damage is done, and the maleable LurkerShip engulfs The Far Star.
A second after that, both ships shift to LurkerSpace, and Darva is quickly
running for his ship, to cut off the automatic report to the Lurker Council
whenever a ship enters or exits LurkerSpace with another ship in tow, one
thing he doesn't need, is more watchers...

try that again folks....>

The warship Previously Aforementioned from Infinitech watched as
the Far Star ducked into Lurkerspace. So, they were going to hide, were
they. No problem, thought the shipmind. Using data from the Far Star's
intrusion, this ship had made the transition relatively smoothly, it's
systems already coming online. Knowing that, for the moment, the Far Star
war out of reach, the Previously Aforementioned decided to complete it's
second mission objective. Elimination of the probability disturbance that
recently incurred itself in this universe. Can't have universe hopping
inversion popping about where they could be a threat. This vessel was ready
for it, though...

'Darva, I understand how this can probably put your person at risk,
and believe me, you have our sincere thanks for helping us out of that
fix.' Elisia told him as they waited, in Lurkerspace, for the warship to
give up. Activating a holographic display module, equations and models
began dancing through the air. 'This was how we used your Lurker technology
to piggyback ourselves into this universe. Normally, transuniversal travel
is a complex and unpredictable process, so we use other means of 'locking
on' to other universes as necessary, such as the Lurker field. As you can
see, that's how we got here. The warship, on the other hand, got here by
use of locking on to the Far Star's quantum resonance frequency, a unique
identifier of universal origin. We need to do two things. First, using
these...' design specs and more equations danced across the screen. 'We
can change the nature of your crossover technology to prevent further piggybacking.
This will require little work and can be accomplished relatively quickly.
The second part...' Elisia sighed with a resigned air. She didn't like
what she had to say now. 'Will require the destruction of all matter of
our universe through physical annihlation or singularity collapse, including
our material makeup. We will need asssistance with this. Once completed,
Infinitech cannot intrude into this universe any longer, or at least, it
will become infintely improbable. We haven't much to offer you in return
for your service, except for the knowledge that the universe is safe. I
only hope that will be enough...

Meanwhile, a mentalic blocking field, which kept minds from looking
at the shielded object, protected the Previously Aforementioned as it headed
straight for the Obsidian Claw to take care of business. Shields were at
maximum, and it's shipmind was prepared for battle...

In the depths of space, sprinkled like jewels on velvet, are stars.
Around one of them orbits the Yah'Noik command world of Yahnorni. Outsystem,
appearing simultaneously out of the ecliptic, appear Empire probe droids.
Drifting, they do a comprehensive scan and send back tactical information
to the main fleet via hyperwave. Around many other important worlds, the
same event occurs. Soon, there will be payback... The Alliance cannot sit
idly back and watch as world after world fall to the hated Xanarious.

Acting on the possibility that they were tracking a cloaked ship,
a group of Vulcan Remote Probes moved over to that area of space and began
to set up a Tachyon Net. Flying in formation, they started to "trawl" the
area

Tachyon grid deployed. Scan in progress. Transmitting standard greeting:
"Attention unidentified ship. Greetings from the Vulcan Military Council.
Please identify yourself, and prove that you do not pose a threat. Any
hostile action against the Vulcan people will be responded to with due
retaliation. Respond!"

S'Tranak had seen enough. It was now plain to him that the Empire
was not so much attacking the Woodlice, as taking sides in their inter-tribal
feudings. Probably playing one faction off against another as a means of
eventually gaining control. Downloading all the info into one of his ship's
20 class-1 Remote Probes, he launched it with orders to return to the Sol
system at maximum speed, and relay his findings to Admiral Skarak.

Meanwhile, back at Mobile Spacedock #5, Admiral Skarak was pleased
with the success of the negotiations. Apparently the current Woodlouse
government was ready and willing to join in a full alliance against the
Empire. As the Xanarius delegation left, Skarak turned to Vice-Admiral
Surtak. "Open a secure subspace channel to the Military Council. I think
it wise to request reinforcements here. The so-called "Empire" has attacked
this system once already, they may try it again. We should also contact
our allies."
