past events The 95th Reunion Well there's not much I can say about this ride. This party only comes around every 5 years. This is the grand-daddy of them all. The Harley-Davidson 95th reunion and the 15th Annual H.O.G. Rally, all rolled into one, in Milwaukee Wisconsin. Wednesday, June 10th the H.O.G. party starts and finishes up Friday night with a bang. Then, without recuperation, on Saturday, June 13th, the 95th Anniversary Reunion starts. This is a big rally with all events included with your ticket purchase. I hope you like to camp out, because all the rooms within 100 miles of Milwaukee were filled up. It was one hell of a time! Any and every type of bike, and people, were there to show their stuff. Grand Parade took 6 hous this year with about 30,000 Harleys involved.
In 1993 T-Bone and I made the trip for the 90th Reunion and we met people from all around the world. In Europe they crate up their bikes, put 'em on a ship, and hope they'll be in New York when they fly in some time later. It was wild, and huge, they close off the interstate in Milwaukee for the grand parade to the waterfront. Most people take off work to go line the interstate and watch the parade. During the 90th it took 2 hours after the parade started, before we could even move, 4 and 5 bikes wide on the interstate, and we were only 2/3 of the way back. ZZ Top, Jay Leno, John Kay and Steppenwolf and Jerry Lewis were all there having a good time. That's enough already, writing this makes me want to put on the leather and fire her up. See you in Milwaukee in 2003. Ride Safe. Ride Proud!
This event has come and gone. I wasn't able to make it this year but I know it was fun. The party started on the 4th of August in 1997, continuing thru the 10th. If you get a chance to go, dress warm 'cause those South Dakota nights are cool. Bring plenty of everything 'cause the lines are long and the party never stops. All night street drags and crusin' to the next water hole for a week or two. Plan ahead, there are few good rooms available. If you ever go to Sturgis just once, you will return!

This is another good rally. The only one worth going to in early spring, March 3-9. This years event had the best weather ever, after we rode through rain from Memphis to Pensacola on the way down, all sunshine and mid-eighties. Marcupial, Denmister and Mr. Safety came prepared for the rain, I did not. There are tons of things to do, here are a couple of good ones. Go down to the beach and watch dudes lay their chrome down while trying to cruise in the soft sand. Get your hog washed by some beautified babes on the main drag for a tip. Lots of cops, but no hassles, most were checking handle-bar length. Watch those "Ape-Hangers." A few spills, most at intersections or where there was sand on the road. Be sure to wash your bike ASAP, the salt in the air will rust your ride overnight. |
