Donuts

A bit of fun, but can get boring after a while. Car simply doing circles very quickly :)

You will find this is difficult to do on bitumen without a reasonable amount of power, or unless you start the donut on bitumen with a burnout until the tyres have melted and are spinning uselessly.

OK, find a nice bit of gravel or grass, try to find a large carpark or something where you wont hit anything or endanger people with flying stones. Bring the revs up, turn the wheel full lock to the left or right (either way), dump the clutch and leave it in first gear until the tacho hits redline then change to second. All of a sudden the car feels like its spinning on its axis, and the direction that your front wheels are pointing really doesn't matter. The rear wheels are ragging the car round in an uncontrollable circle. Try turning the wheel the opposite direction to see what happens :)

Reverse donuts can be great fun, but very dangerous as far as hitting objects, the car usually flings itself around and then starts crabbing sideways every time a loop is achieved. Fun nevertheless :)

If the car has a cam, or little power down low, the revs may start to fall and the engine will bog-down, if this happens, change back down to first and keep going! An LSD vehicle will react differently to one with an open diff.
