Well, you've decided that you want to purchase that new/used car. They're several things to keep in mind prior to visiting the selling dealership.
BUDGET
You know how much that you can afford to spend. Set a limit and stick to it. The selling dealer will have effective tools to raise that limit but DON'T WORRY I will be addressing these issues.
DOWN PAYMENT
The current advertising that you have read or seen says
"NO MONEY
DOWN". Needless to say, there is
small print. The dealers include the wording "with approve
credit". Please be aware that this situation might occur;
however, some individuals, for one reason or another, will
NOT qualify for the no money down. They may have to
come up with some percentage of the vehicle selling price
in the form of a down payment. Also, most financial
institutions require some form of a down payment (the
general rule is 10% of the selling price).
PRE SHOP
What do I mean by "Pre Shop"? Most dealerships will be
closed one day a week. On that day, or after "normal"
working hours, go by the dealership that has a vehicle that
you are interested in (I don't consider this a visit for
purchasing). Look at the "maroni sticker"---THE PRICE
STICKER. There is a wealth of informtion here i.e. est.
mileage, standard options, additional options, & price
including base price, options price, special factory
discount package, and destination charges. Then find the
style of vehicle that you want and can afford. Make
yourself aware of available options.
NOW YOU ARE READY TO VISIT THE SELLING DEALERSHIP
(during working hours)
