FortuneCity is only capable of giving away 20 MB of free web space thanks to the sponsorship of our advertisers. Each page that you create will have an advertising banner automatically inserted into it.

Before you create a page here on FortuneCity, you must read and understand these rules.
Contact us if you are unclear as to what may or may not be housed at your site.

The listings below are web practices which, when discovered by our staff, will result in your entire web site being deleted, possibly without prior notice. Read carefully:

1. All web sites located here at Fortunecity.com are subject to both surfuse, and or deep scan of the users online file manager,and site. This can and will be done with or with out prior notice to the user.
1a. A surfuse scan consists of the viewing of all html, htm, java and any other type of web pages.
1b. A deep scan consists of the viewing of all file in the users online Fortunecity.com file manager.
1c. No fortunecity.com Neighborhood Guide staff member can or is allowd to delete another users information from his/her site.

2. You may not remove, resize so as to render invisible, unreadable or otherwise block by use of software, any of the banners that Fortunecity inserts onto your pages. The Fortunecity robot will automatically insert one banner per page at the top of the view able browser window. This is the consideration "payment" for 20 mb of our server space. Our banner is depicted below.
2a. For individuals using frames, at least one of the frames must have the viewable banner on it at all times. i.e. you may not place the banner at the bottom of a non scrolling frame and size that window so as not to display the banner. The banner must either be permanently viewable or the window scrollable so that the banner may be seen. For those of you who wish to use frames, we recommend that you place the banner in its own frame at either the top of the viewable window. This will preclude any problems relating to having a displayed banner.

3. You may not set up a "Gateway" site on the FortuneCity server. A gateway site is one which only provides an entrance to the actual site located somewhere else

4. You may not use your web space for providing material or links to material that is grossly offensive to the Web community. This includes any the following:
4a. Blatant expressions of bigotry, racism, hatred, or profanity
4b. Promoting or providing instructional information about illegal activities, such as instructions regarding weapons, promoting "spam" e-mail, computer viruses or material infringing intellectual property rights of third parties.
4c. Promoting physical harm or injury against any group or individual.

5. You may not password protect any link provided on any of your pages located on the FortuneCity server.

6. Pages may not contain, nor contain links to, any of the following:
6a.Copyrighted material. Unless you can show proof of copyright or that you have permission from the owner of said copyrighted materials.
6b. Frontal nudity or display of genitals.
6c. Sex, pornography, obscene material, tasteless images. This includes anything considered adult material, and any form of child pornography.
6d. Foul language. This includes all types of cursing in any language.
6e. Hate propaganda.
6f. Anything illegal or links to include illegal software, warez or hacked software, serial numbers, mail fraud or pyramid schemes.
6g. Material insulting to another person(s) or Company.
6h. Material that could be considered defamatory or libelous.
6i. Material that exploits children.
6j. Material which attempts to collect personal information about users.
6k. Material infringing the intellectual property rights of third parties including, but not limited to trade marks, domain names, personality rights, names of individuals, publicity rights, logos, graphics, designs, films, music, providing information or material allowing one to circumvent manufacture.
6l. Installed copy protected devices and any other form of cracker utility.

7. You must not use your web space for 'data warehousing'
7a. Using our space as storage for large files which are only linked from other sites. You must provide a reasonable amount of content (html) to accompany such material in order that at least some of the traffic to your site comes directly via us.
7b. Any number of images, html, htm, java, or any other form of web page not directed connected to your site or linked to the pages of your site are also a form of data warehousing.

8. MP3 files may not be located on the FortuneCity server. This is due to constant abuse and posting of copyrighted material which resulted in a number of threats of legal action by the copyright owners. You may provide a link to MP3 files located on a server other than FortuneCity.
8a. Fortunecity will now allow MP3 files if, it is the author's own work. Example is Minister of Skyscraper Eddie2Dogs. He is also a recording artist and features his works on MP3s housed at Fortunecity.
8b. MP3, and Exe files containing programs of any kind must display a copy of any of the copyrights of there work on a seperate page that is linked to there site.

9. No commercial pages promoting or describing any kind of business except in the commercial district. You may provide a link to a commercial site so long as the link may be construed exclusively as a service to your visitors and you receive no personal payment or consideration by providing that link. Again, what is permitted and what is not is our call to make.

10. Your site may not contain commercial advertising or clickable banners other than those inserted by FortuneCity.
10a. Bigstar.com is an affiliate program allowed on FC. There are no other affiliate programs allowed at this time.
10b. The only place at fortunecity.com where you are allowd to sell anything is in the business district.

11. You may not use unsolicited email to promote your site.

12. FortuneCity reserves the right to block or delete any site due to inappropriate behavior by the web master towards FortuneCity, its staff or its residents which has been validated on public or private forums.

13. You should not copy any other page and/or images without prior consent from the originator of the other page and/or images.

14. CITIZENS WHO ARE FOUND IN BREACH OF THESE RULES ARE SUBJECT TO HAVE, WITHOUT NOTICE, THEIR CITIZENSHIP CANCELED AND FURTHER ACCESS DENIED. FORTUNECITY.COM FURTHER RESERVES ITS RIGHT TO TAKE LEGAL ACTION AGAINST ANY CITIZEN IN BREACH OF THESE RULES AND TO PROVIDE INFORMATION TO LAW ENFORCEMENT AUTHORITIES AND OTHER INTERESTED PARTIES REGARDING THESE CITIZENS.

Additionally, we at FortuneCity ask that you comply with the following. Your site will not be deleted solely for non-compliance in these areas, however you will not be accepted for a volunteer FortuneCity position nor will you be considered for FortuneCity web rings, awards, or prizes.

15. You should ensure a valid and readily accessible email address is posted on your page.(s)

16. You should use 'index.html' as your initial (first page to display) document file. You may incur problems with your site later should you not do this.

17. Your page should be active that is, it is either receiving 'hits' or is being updated/posted to. Sites which neither receive any hits or are not being updated within a 60 day period will be considered 'inactive'. Sites which remain inactive for an extended period of time may be removed by us to make room for other users. We assume that you came here because you want the free space offered and will use it to good purpose.

18. You are strongly encouraged to develop a site related to the 'theme' of the district you choose to reside in. If you cannot find an appropriate district, drop us a line. Perhaps we can add a new district relating to your desired theme.
Rainbow Park is a children's area and only 'G' rated material that is approved by the district ministers is permitted. Millennium Park is a family district and strongly dissuades anything that is not 'G' rated.

19. You, as the author of your pages, take full responsibility for its contents. As the author you state your page contains nothing illegal, obscene, pornographic, degrading or abusive to another person, including pages that promote hate group propaganda and child pornography. As the author, you also state that nothing on your page is copyrighted material and that any links to other servers have been approved by that organization.
As the author, you also state that nothing on your page infringes the intellectual property rights of any third party. You agree that FortuneCity has the right to remove any page it determines, in its sole discretion, has violated these rules and to cancel your citizenship and take against you whatever measures will be deemed appropriate, including legal action and disclosing information about you to law enforcement authorities and other interested third parties. Citizens who are in breach of these rules agree to indemnify and hold harmless FortuneCity.com for any loss, claim, damage and expenses (including reasonable attorneys fees) arising from or in connection with the contents of any personal home pages or of any chat or messages on a bulletin board found to be infringing or illegal. By submitting your pages, you agree to all the above terms.

20. Fortunecity makes no guarantee as to availability of service. To the fullest extent permissible by law, Fortunecity excludes all liability with respect to accuracy, content or availability of information on its web site.
