What is a NG (Neighborhood Guide)?
A Neighborhood Guide is a resident of Fortunecity (like me) who volunteers his/her time to help make sure that their street, and even their District a better and safer place for everyone. The NG's role in their District is to provide help and support for their neighbors, as well as reporting any and all violations of the Fortunecity guidelines.

What are the duties of the NG?
Each of the Fortunecity NG's in the Silverstone District are assigned specific areas within their district, and are expected to perform several duties. Some of the duties include: Helping any and all Fortunecity residents with their sites located in the Silverstone District, recomending sites for awards, looking for broken links, no index pages (or incorrectly named index pages), links and banners which are in violation of Fortunecity guides, porn on the site, "hacker" sites, hate and racism, and any other violation of the Fortunecity guidelines. I do not go in and delete sites which I feel are violating guidelines-if your site is in violation, I send you a nice e-mail, explaining why the content is not in compliance with the FC guidelines, and ask you to change things. I also send weekly reports of my findings to the NGPA which will include any violations, as well as any sites that I came across ahould be nominated for an award.

Why does Fortunecity need NG's?
NG's ensure that the sites located within Fortunecity are a fun and safe place for everyone. For you, the author of your page, my job is to make sure that your hard work does not go to waste. If you put hours, days, or weeks of your time creating a site, I want to make sure that anyone who visits your site will be able to enjoy the site as you intended. If they cannot access your site because you forgot to create your index page, they may not be able to view your page-making all the work you put into creating it for naught.
Then there is scanning your site for proper content. Let's say my child, grandmother, or boss wants to visit my page, but types the address incorrectly. Instead of seeing a website about Karmann Ghia's, they get a page full of...unclothed women, for example. My child screams, my grandmother refuses to bake me anymore chocolate chip cookies, and my boss fires me. Not good! So, I volunteered to become a NG to protect my wallet, my tummy, and my ears-and most of all, you.

Of course, if you sign up, you must be serious about wanting to help. Even though being a NG is enjoyable and rewarding, Silverstone relies on you to fulfill your promise.
