WELCOME
TO
NATALIE'S
GLENN SETON
RACING PAGENatalie's Glenn Seton Site was going to be removed & replaced by some other Motor Racing pages, but I have decided since I now have an extra 4Mb to play with I will just leave them as they are, but they may not be updated for the 1998 Season.
Look here for a Castrol Cougars Page soon.
My name is Natalie and I am 25 years old. I have been following the
Touring Car Racing for the last 10 years. I live in Brisbane so the only
tracks I get to go to is Lakeside and The Gold Coast Indy Grand Prix.
I've been following Glenn Seton all this time and I think he is the best
driver out there. I cant wait for the day he wins Bathurst. I have taken
millions of photos and as I manage to have them scanned I will put them
onto my page.
While I was at Lakeside I showed Glenn a printout of my Web Pages. He thought they were good and he told me that his own official Web Site would be up and running within the next month or so. Something all of us Glenn Seton supporters would be looking forward to.

Ford Credit racing driver and team owner, Glenn Seton was introduced
to motor racing as a 5 month old baby at Bathurst, that was in 1965 when
his father, Barry Seton, raced a ford cortina to victory in Australia's
premier touring car race on the Mt Panorama circuit.
After a somewhat unique introduction to motor racing, Glenn followed a
more conventional entry into competition. At the age of 14, Glenn began
racing in go-kart events. Glenn quickly served notice of his ability on
4 wheels by finishing runner-up in the Australian junior go-kart
championships in 1980 an again in 1981.
In 1982 Glenn made his motor racing debut driving a ford capri to class
victories in the Australian endurance championship rounds at Amaroo Park,
Oran Park, and Surfers Paradise.
In 1983 he made his debut at Bathurst in the ford capri. In 1984 Glenn
was employed by Nissan and raced a pulsar successfully for 2 years.
His career leaped ahead in 1986 when he was provided with opportunities
behind the wheel of a group A Nissan Skyline. He made his debut in the
Australian touring car championship in 1986 finishing 2nd at Wanneroo
and Calder. He also won the Sandown and Calder rounds of the Australian
Endurance Championship.
In 1987 Glenn finished 2nd in the Australian Touring Car Championship and
2nd in the James Hardie 1000 at Bathurst. In 1988 he had a moderate year
with Nissan and towards the end of the year (November 28) they commenced
operations in a new workshop in Dandenong, Melbourne. In 1989 he
formed Peter Jackson Racing to drive a turbo charged Ford Sierra.
During Glenn's first year as Team owner, in 1989, he was frustrated by mechanical
problems and mishaps. These included his machine being destroyed in the
four car pile-up during the dramatic ATCC round at Lakeside. Glenn's
first year with his own team earned plenty of points for presentation
and pace but good results were relatively few.
After serving a tough apprenticeship in 1989 Glenn's results improved in
1990 when he won the Sandown 500 and finished 2nd in the Nissan 500 at
Eastern Creek to clinch the Australian endurance championship title.
He signed up Peter Fowler as the new Team Manager. His role was to free
Glenn to concentrate on driving and his father, Bo, to continue engine
development on the Peter Jackson Team's three Ford Sierra's.
In 1991 he finished equal 4th in the ATCC series and was the leading
ford sierra driver.
Brisbane racer Wayne Park has joined the team for the 92 season in the 2nd
sierra. He will continue with the team until the conclusion of the endurance
races in which he will share a sierra with David Parsons.
The opening touring car event in Australia in 1992 was the Winfield Triple
Challenge at Eastern Creek in January, where Glenn won both
heats in his Peter Jackson Racing ford sierra. He completed 1992 by
finishing 5th overall in the ATCC. Alan Jones quit Tony Longhurst's team
to drive for Glenn in the coming endurance races. Alan will also be driving
the 2nd falcon in the 1993 ATCC. During 1992 Glenn also over saw
development of the new Peter Jackson Racing ford falcon which made its race
debut in the Sandown 500. He also raced the machine at Bathurst.
Glenn began 1993 by winning the Winfield Triple Challenge event at
Eastern Creek for the 2nd successive year, it's obvious that after 4 years
of driving the sierras Glenn is enjoying his racing more in the new falcon.
He continued his form in the ATCC series, with 3rd in the opening round at
Amaroo before taking the lead in the championship by winning round 3 at
Phillip Island. He continued his winning form to take his FIRST ATCC.
Glenn also won the 2nd round at Pukekohe, New Zealand in a 2 litre ford
mondeo with driver Paul Rasdisich. Alan Jones was driving for the team
this year and will continue with them until the end of 1995 when the ban
on tobacco sponsorship in sport will bring to an end Glenn's current
deal with Phillip Morris.
Glenn's car appeared for the first time sporting a change from his
traditional No 30 to No 1 as the mark of a defending champion.
In 1994 Glenn's form was good but Mark Skaife was doing a fantastic job.
It was Glenn's equipment that let him down, mechanical failures robbing
him of big points. Glenn finished 2nd scoring 6 victories. In June 11 1994
another highlight in Glenn's life was his marriage to Jayne Atkinson at
'Monbulk' in the Dandenong Ranges east of Melbourne. Bathurst was looking
good, Glenn had a dream lead-up. He was the fastest qualifier, took pole
position and survived the early rain storm. He was well placed on the
lead lap looking after the car when an engine problem (broken rocker)
intervened.
In 1995 Glenn should have finished the Shell Series with something a little
better than second. Glenn was behind the 8 ball due to a couple of early
failures, although his late series charge had John Bowe worried. The choice
of a $30,000 bonus or the fully restored 1965 cortina which his father, Bo,
drove to win Bathurst in '65 was a promotional gimmick which was based on a
collection of coincidences which included that he drives car no 30, he was
30 years of age and his father won Bathurst in the cortina 30 years ago.
A Bathurst win was so close and having the teams 2nd car finish 2nd was
little consolation, particularly with the sponsorship dramas circulating
at the time. After rumors of sponsorship coming from McDonalds or Miller
Beer, Glenn secured his racing future on Christmas Eve by signing a deal
with Ford Credit. Glenn couldn't guarantee his team mate Alan Jones a drive
in the 96 season so AJ left the team taking the Phillip Morris sponsorship
with him in the form of Pack Leader Racing. After experiencing some of the
highest highs and lowest lows in touring car racing together over the last
7 years Glenn and his father parted company. Adding to the highs in Glenn's
life was the birth of his first child, daughter Courtney in November.
In 1996 Glenn's falcon appeared for the first time in the new colours of
Ford Credit being his new sponsor. His team was also down sized to one car.
This year John Sidney prepared Glenn's engines as his father Bo was bought
out of the team by Glenn. Bo would be still working out of Glenn's workshop,
although he is planning a move back to Sydney. On the racing side 96 was a
tough year for Glenn. He only won 3 of the 30 shell series heats and
finished 3rd overall. He failed to win a single ATCC round spending much
of his ontrack time charging back through the field after various early
mishaps.
With a new engine program, a new fitness program and a burning desire to
repeat his 1993 title year, Glenn is looking forward to his 1997 racing
year. Glenn's brought his engine back in-house under the direction of
long-term employee Scotty Owen. Glenn's form so far this year has been
excellent. Glenn's outright victories at Sandown & Eastern Creek have
given him a handy lead past the half way mark of the championship. An
unfortunate mishap at Lakeside has decreased his lead to just 8 points.
Glenn's bid for the Championship almost disappeared at Wanneroo after a
wild crash at high speed during Saturday afternoon practice. In both
races Glenn was involved in startline incidents which damaged the airdams
and cost many placings. At Mallala Glenn had to stay in front of Ingall
and Bowe to stay in the lead, this he did successfully taking 3rd for the
day. Going into the final round with a 4 point lead, Glenn was under a
lot of pressure. The Championship was Glenn's when Ingall backed his
commodore into the barriers at the start of the 2nd heat and Bowe was struck
by engine problems which kept his falcon in the pits for the last race.
Glenn finished 2nd overall for the day and became the 1997 AUSTRALIAN
TOURING CAR CHAMPION.
