Welcome to Rob's Military History page!

My interest in military history goes back to my early childhood. My dad (Floyd E. Sorrels, Jr.) was a career Army soldier and I remember living at Ft. Lee Virginia and exploring the Civil War (War of Northern Agression to some folks!) battlefields and reenactments in that area. Of course having a father in the military also had a big impact on my interests! Dad served 28.5 years in the Army and fought in WW2 and the Korean "Conflict." I eventually joined the USAF and became a pilot. I flew as an Instructor pilot in T-37s (Laughlin AFB, Altus AFB, Randolph AFB) and T-38s (Vance AFB), and was an Aircraft Commander in F-111Ds (Cannon AFB).  I took the early retirement during the drawdown in the early '90s.  This is a "personal" military history site!
