Dissasembling

Use a Chilton book or any S10 workmanuals for detailed procedures on the removal of the different components, Stay as close as you can from the manual procedures.

When you finished finding all stuff from a typhoon or a syclone it will be a lot easier if you take the grillle, hood, front bumper, radiator, condenser, radiator support and fenders out from the chassis. It will take less than three hours if you have the right tools and someone to help you with the hood (Its is quite difficult to try to handle the hood yourself) and will save you a lot of time later. This will give enough space to work on the engine, old wiring harness and componets, removal / instalation.

Remove accesories attached to the engine: air filter and ducting, a/c, alternator, power stearing pump, and waterpump. Disconect speedo cable and all linkage in the tranny and transfer , both shafts from the transfercase (f/r), the transmision crossmember support, and engine mounts from the engine or chassis and you can Remove the old engine with transmision all together from your chassis.

Now you can clean all the rust and dust acumulated for so many years on the chassis.

Remove the old wiring harness, disconeccting it from the ecm inside the cab and from the big conector near the brake booster. Doing this will allow you to take out the complete old wiring harness.
