Palandor's JavaScript Tips

This section of the site is directed at giving answers to many of the questions that I get concerning some of the fundamentals of JavaScript.

These few samples will give you a good starting point and can be used in combination for other effects - the Hex2Dec actually uses several of them to give a fairly complete page. If you are looking for the Roll-Over or Mouse-Over effect that is under the PZ GGT section - mainly because it's connected with graphics/page effects.

Error Trap: A simple script to add to pages with JavaScript that intercepts errors and simply ignores them! Helps stop annoying pop-ups for visitors.

Banners: An easy to modify banner controller - you supply the URL, Image name and ALT details and the script randomly selects from 10 entries.

Hex<->Dec: A basic convertor that takes the Hexadecimal or Decimal codes for colours and gives the other base - also can create an on-the-fly pop-up so you can view the result along with lines of coloured text.

Windows: Generating windows via JavaScript and how to control all the aspects of size, colour, title, etc.

BG Fader: A very simple JavaScript to allow you to fade a background from one colour to another - you could modify this to allow users to select their preferred background colour.
