11/15/97-Cheerleading Competition:
Walnut High School cheerleaders competed in a regional competition, and got a rating of Excellent. Members of the Cheerleading squad include: Captain: Angie Mills, Co-Captain: Lindsey Boyd, Amber Parker, Ashley Street, Lindsay Babcock, Melanie Hill, Aubrey Alexander, Leanne Wright, Heather Brooks, and Leshea Bourg.
11/15/97-Quiz Bowl Competition:
Walnut sent a team to a Quiz Bowl competition at Alcorn Central High School. They won 2 rounds, and lost 3. Members of the team were: Sarah Meeks, Alecia Barnes, Michael Hill, Jeremy Babcock, and Kevin Winter.
11/20/97-Congratulations to Coach Ard!!
Coach Shane and Tammy Ard were married on the Eight of November. We'd like to congratulate them on their marriage and hope they have a very bright future!

We had several girls place on the All-County Team. Marsha Mullins(All-County Infield), Melanie Hill(All-County OutField), Aubrey Alexander(Honorable Mentions), Lindsey Boyd(Honorable Mention). Congratulations!!!
