I was born in Malaysia. I was then living in Christmas Island from 1980 to 1993.
I have lived in Perth since 1994. I've grown up in perth. I'm 19 years old student
undertaking a undergraduate degree at Murdoch University
since 1998 and probably complete the course before the end of the decade.
Christmas Island is a small tropical island that is situated north east the coast of Western Australia. It has a population of less than 10000.
The people of Christmas Island--there are about 2500 of them come from all over: places such as Europe, Australia, China, Malaysia,
Indonesia, and more. But most of these people would tell you that they're mainly just Christmas Islanders.
The ocean floor under Christmas Island is moving northward toward the island of Java (over 200 miles away) about 2 1/2 inches a year.
Christmas Island gets more than 193 cm of rain a year during the wet season, and its rainforest leads right up to its steep edges on most sides of the island. There are also several small, palm-lined prestine white beaches.
Also in Christmas Island there are 600 different species of fish swim in its waters. Eight species of seabirds nest by on its steep cliffs. Endangered black coral grow in the underwater caves. There are also 16 other species of land crabs. The crabs consume food that normally that other animals disposed as waste such as leaves, animal carcasses and other decaying rainforest undergrowth. But not many of those kinds of creatures ever made it to faraway Christmas Island. Two kinds of rats that lived there before people did seem to have been pushed to extinction by mammals such as cats introduced in by humans.
