Opened
in August 2000 La Piazza is an Italian Restaurant of distinction
and class. Under the guidance of owners with 27 years experience
in restaurants, La Piazza is sure to be a success and a firm
favourite with those seeking to find truly authentic Italian
cooking with an atmosphere to match.
Occupying
a corner position the first thing that catches the eye is a
beautifully painted mural by local artist Paul Johnstone that
adorns one wall. Al fresco dining is available on the terrace,
just perfect for lunching in the summer.
In Italy the Piazza
is not just a hustling bustling marketplace but a local point for
locals, a place where people meet not just to shop but often dine
or enjoy a coffee in familiar surroundings. Upon entering La
Piazza the interior design of the main dining room perfectly
captures this theme, with its high ceilings and shuttered windows
along the walls informal cafe style table layout and light airy
feel you are magically transported to another time and place.
And so what of the
food on offer, well as you would expect a chef with 27 years
experience certainly knows his trade and his undoubted skills
leave their signature all over the menu. It is difficult to select
highlights from this bill of fare as there are so many but as a
starter Cornetti Di Salmone, smoked salmon cornet with prawns in a
luscious cocktail sauce is a fine choice of Antipasti. The main
dishes are sumptuous and presented in an exquisite manner and
again its difficult to choose just one of the many excellent
choices but the Risotto Al Pollo, Italian rice sautéed with
chicken pieces, mushrooms, peppers and onion in a tomato sauce is
superb. The selections for
vegetarians are equally as good and extensive with at any one time
around twenty choices on offer.
All food at La
Piazza is cooked from scratch using only the freshest ingredients
bought daily from the market to your table. This policy allows the
specials board to be changed daily to take advantage of market
opportunities. As befits a
quality restaurant La Piazza has a fine collection of wines in its
cellar with a welcoming Italian bias, and a full selection of
spirits and liqueurs are on offer at the bar.
The ILP Review Team
can highly recommend La Piazza to anyone looking to enjoy fine
Italian food and wine.
At La Piazza the welcome is always warm and
the atmosphere just as friendly making every visit to this
charming restaurant a real pleasure. Enjoy!
