“You and dad had quite a talk, I see. So, did he also mention that he has a girlfriend?” “No! When did this happen?” “Sometime during the summer.” “What’s she like?” “I don’t know. I’ve never met her. In fact, I’m having dinner with them Friday night. All I know is her name is Barbara, she’s a marine biologist and she works down at the stranding station.” “I wonder how they met…” “That I know. Nano and Dad were out fishing and found a wounded seal pup. They took it into the station…” “So is it serious?” “I don’t know. I’ve never met another girlfriend, IF there have been others.” “Well, come by whenever you’re done.” We talked for awhile about Carmine’s plans for the band and then we said good bye. As I hung up the phone, I thought how life is full of surprises. I didn’t know it then but more surprises were just around the corner. |
