My father and Barbara also had plans for spring
break. They were going on a photo safari in Kenya, something my father
had always wanted to do. Barbara had been several times before.
She was eagerly looking forward to showing my dad around Africa like he
showed her around New Zealand. Safaris lasted two weeks, so dad used
up some accumulated leave time. They left the weekend before Carmine
and I left for the Bahamas.
That last week before spring break was hectic, with mid-terms
for me and sixteen plus hour days in the studio for Carmine. We were
counting the hours until we left on Sunday.
On Friday afternoon, Tony decided he'd had enough of the
album making process and sent everybody home. Suddenly Friday night
beckoned to us....maybe we should hop a flight and begin our vacation earlier.
Fortunately we didn't.
