Instead we decided to go out for that leisurely
dinner and meet Jon and Diana at a new club that had just opened up in
the Bowery.
Carmine invited Tony to join us. Tony was depressed.
The album wasn't coming together the way he wanted it. He couldn't
seem to put across to the band what he was hearing in his head. He
wasn't satisfied with the arrangements, with the vocals. In short,
Tony was going through the agonies he always went through when he recorded
an album. He had also just broken up with his long-time girlfriend,
Linda. Tony was in no mood to be cheered up and declined the invitation.
"We're meeting Jon and Diana at that new club on Delancy
later...at about 11:00, why don't you come by then?," but Carmine knew
it was futile.
"I'll think about it. If you see me, you see me,"
answered Tony.
