Banners..Banners..Banners

I will be showing you how to place a banner on a site after you have signed up as an affiliate. You can choose to place a "468x60" banner at the top or bottom of a page; you can choose to use text only or the very small button links and place them on a sidebar design. Regardless of placement you want to be certain that you have chosen an online merchant that you can "back", and yet one that pays well relative to other that are available. And of course you will want to choose one that looks attractive on your site - "blends" well, and have brand recognition. This isn't key either. If you find a service you believe in, become an affiliate and let people know why you are affiliated.

The tendency of a new webdesigner who has just discovered this process is to place too many ad banners on their site. This takes away from your site or message and nobody wins. But they're bright, creative and give you an opportunity to supplement your business until it takes off. But don't get the wrong idea: you will NOT make a living on affiliate marketing. Also, don't misuse your privelege as an affiliate (no spam, mass mailings, etc); PLEASE read thoroughly the terms and conditions of the reciprocal agreement you are making.

After you sign up you will receive the" html code" for the banner right at the site where you signed up, or in your email, depending on how a particular company has their affiliate program setup. If you need assistance with this step, the site will offer help. If you are still confused you can email me. (Not everyone knows html)

Below are a number of banners, text links and button graphics that are offered by several merchants when you join their affiliate program. I have tried to find a little something for everyone.

This first banner is for a company that pays you to surf the internet, and pays you for others who sign up because you told them about it. It is a "viewbar" that sits at the bottom or top of your screen and having used it for 5 months I forget it's there. I've received two checks, so can vouch for their integrity. This is one of about 8 banners they offer for you as an affiliate:

Here's a screen shot in miniature of what the viewbar looks like:

Following are some examples of different size banners in no particular arrangment or placement - later I will be updating to demonstrate what a difference placement can make - for now I want to show you the variety of merchants available:
