| This is the Preview Release 1 of the Netscape 6. The company dropped the name Communicator from the suite; now the entire suite is simply called Netscape. But the real surprise is that the company decided to skip the next point upgrade for the Communicator 4.x browser and email clients and head straight to version 6. Now, the big question is whether the jump in version number will mean a jump over Netscape's main competitor, Microsoft Internet Explorer. With Netscape 6 PR1's hot new features such as : Chat with Netscape's or AOL's instant-messenger programs from your email, Use designer skins to customize Netscape's look and feel, Protect your privacy with version 6's improved Cookie Manager; Netscape certainly has a fighting chance. For this release, the company rebuilt its browser's engine from the ground up with help from Mozilla, a project aimed at creating an open-source upgrade for the Netscape Communicator 4.x browser and email clients. Consequently, version 6 is smaller and appears to run faster than its predecessors. Note : While still connected to the Internet, run the NetscapeSetup.exe file which will downloads and installs Netscape 6 PR 1 files. | ||
