Soviet Fleet Admiral Uniforms

Welcome to my page on Soviet Fleet Admiral Uniforms.

Soviet Admiral Ranking:
Under the Marshal of USSR, all the chiefs of different branches are named Chief Marshals of (corresponding branches), and their shoulder boards all have a big Marshal star surrounded by a wreath. However, for the Navy, the treatment is different. Its chief is called Fleet Admiral of the USSR, and the shoulder board has the similar big admiral star and a USSR coat-of-arms, just like the Marshal of USSR. Please notice that the navy is of the least importance in the five branches of Soviet armed forces, though.

The Soviet Navy has four fleets (North Sea, Atlantic, Pacific and Black Sea), plus a floatilla in the Capsian Sea. There is one 3-star admiral to head each fleet, and there is also one fleet admiral rank (shoulder board has one big star) for each fleet on administrative purpose.

The following are different uniforms for Fleet Admiral USSR Gorshkov, who was the navy chief from mid-1960s to 1985:

Parade Uniform
Dress Uniform
Duty Uniform
