Adelaide lived in New England with her husband, a prince of a foreign country. The prince was planning on returning to his country with his new bride, but there was one problem: She didn't speak German, which was the language mainly spoken in Razkavia, his true home. So, Prince Rudolf hired a tutor for Adelaide, who just happened to really be a Razkavian citizen. Her name was Becky, and she became Adelaide's only companion. No one knew of Adelaide's history. Of how she had been a servant girl once. Of how she had made a living when she was on the streets. Well, Prince Rudolf did know that, but he didn't care. He was madly in love. One day, Becky met a man in a straw boater hat. He seemed to know that Rudolf was the prince, and he inquired about Adelaide. The man seemed to be about Adelaide's age, and he seemed quite friendly and harmless. Becky let him into the house. When he saw Adelaide and Adelaide saw him, Becky thought she could see tears in both of their eyes. Finally, Adelaide said to Becky "This is Jim."
A few days after Becky had let Jim into the house, they received word that the crown prince, Prince Willhelm, and his wife had been assassinated. Immediately, Adelaide and Rudolf packed their bags. Seeing as Adelaide still had much to learn and had an intense need of companionship, Becky started packing her belongings as well. Jim, who Becky had discovered was a childhood friend of Adelaide's, insisted on accompanying them as a sort of a bodyguard. Then they finally hopped on a train to Razkavia with Razkavia's crown prince, princess, the princess' best friend, a body guard, and Razkavia's English Ambassador and his wife on board.
Once they reached the palace, they were greeted by thousands of cheers from Razkavia's citizens. They entered the palace and greeted Rudolf's father, King Willhelm, with proper etiquette. He took an immediate liking to Adelaide, especially after he discovered that his son had married her. Eventually the old king died, but that didn't make Rudolf the king instantly. You see, there was an ancient tradition that the new king (or queen) carry their country's flag (Called "The Red Eagle") to "The Rock", where the founder of their country had so brilliantly fought off attackers and won their freedom. The very thought of that flag touching the ground was unnerving to all of Razkavia. As Rudolf took the first step, bearing the flag as he had been trained to all his life in case something happened to his older brother, as it had, a shot erupted. Rudolf fell to the ground, but luckily, Adelaide, who was standing behind him, caught the flag before it fell. Trying to balance the weight of the gargantuan flag with her own fragile self, she continued up the hill to the rock, Becky and Jim in tail, urging her on, and encouraging her to take breaks when she needed to. She finally reached the top, put the flag in it's place, and fainted into Jim's arms. The country roared with pride for their new queen.
