Product Information
You can do more when you’re running on Adrenaline…
Adrenaline is the newest family of high-performance image processing accelerators and feature rich software products to come from Kofax Image Products. Continuing the long standing Kofax tradition of providing quality solutions for production-level imaging requirements, Adrenaline products are the components that drive the latest generation of ultra-fast scanners at rated speeds while performing advanced recognition, image clean-up, and forms processing functions all in real-time.
Running on Adrenaline means getting the most out of your imaging system for the lowest possible cost. With Adrenaline, your productivity in capturing and processing document images will go up while your associated labor costs go down. That’s because the workhorses in the Adrenaline product family do more for less than any other competitive products on the market.
The Adrenaline product family provides:
Inside the Adrenaline Family - A Solution to Fit Every Need
There are two directions to go within the Adrenaline family - software or hardware. You base your selection on which Adrenaline product is right for you as determined by your configuration, the volume of images you’ll. need to capture, the amount of image processing you need, and your budget.
When the volume of images is more substantial, or where image processing is more extensive, or when speed of capture is a critical issue, the Adrenaline hardware image processing accelerators should be brought into play. Utilizing 32-bit PCI design plus a number of proprietary ASICS, the Adrenaline image processing accelerators are dramatically faster than any competitive product or previous hardware accelerators from Kofax.
All Adrenaline image processing accelerators are fully compatible with 16-bit or 32-bit applications built on ImageControls v2.0 and support the Windows 95 and Windows NT platforms.
The Adrenaline image processing accelerators are plug and play compatible with any PCI based PC and provide support for both video and SCSI model scanners. Rear mounted LEDs provide pass/fail diagnostics. There are four versions of Adrenaline hardware:
Adrenaline 1700 SCSI and 1700 Video - These are the highest-speed,
highest performance image processing accelerators on the market, capable
of capturing images at speeds as high as 250 ipm (with image processing
enabled) and 400 ipm (with image processing disabled). The Adrenaline 1700s
supports popular high-speed SCSI scanners and the Adrenaline 1700v supports
high-speed video scanners. The power of the Adrenaline 1700 drives
these scanners at rated speeds with an extensive set of image processing
features fully enabled.
Adrenaline 850 SCSI and 850 Video - These mid-range image processing
accelerators are capable of capturing images at rates up to 100 images
per minute. The Adrenaline 850s supports all popular mid-range SCSI
scanners while the Adrenaline 850v supports low-end and mid-range video
scanners. Both boards are capable of capturing images at the scanner’s
rated speed with an extensive set of image processing features enabled.
The Secret to Production-Level Imaging - Point of Capture Processing
In a high volume imaging environment, time spent scanning and processing documents can rapidly drive the cost of the entire imaging solution through the roof. Which is why speed and efficiency in the capture operation are critical elements to control.
The secret to controlling the speed and efficiency of a capture operation and thus better controlling costs, can be found in employing a technique known as point-of-capture processing. This involves performing as many image cleanup, image enhancement, and recognition operations as possible at the time of scanning the image. By performing point-of-capture processing, you will save the need for multiple, dedicated servers to perform these operations in a post-scanning mode. This will save you the obvious costs in additional hardware for the servers, as well as serving to reduce the amount of network traffic (image files aren’t all that small, so any reduction in moving them across the network will make your users happy).
But in order for point-of-capture processing to work effectively, the capture operation must be able to function in both a high-speed and an automated mode. This is where the power and performance of the Adrenaline image processing accelerators comes into play.
Adrenaline is ideal for point-of-capture processing. With its sophisticated algorithms, advanced ASCI design, and tight integration with ImageControls, the Adrenaline image processing accelerators can drive supported scanners at rated speeds while simultaneously performing advanced recognition, image cleanup, image enhancement and forms processing.
What’s more, Adrenaline lets you work smart and not hard. By performing point-of-capture processing you’ll be able to reject poorly scanned documents and make rescan decisions instantly. You can choose to route images, based upon the automated recognition results, to the appropriate operator for action. And by taking advantage of the image cleanup and image enhancement functions in your application, you’ll create even smaller image files, so storage and network transfer times are minimized.
