DVD/CD-ROM Management Software for Microsoft NT-based
Networks
CD Net® v4 for Windows NT provides powerful native NT system software for easy sharing and management of DVD-ROM and CD-ROM drives and information.
The software includes an expansive suite of applications including robust server software with Windows-based remote configuration, powerful performance tools, client software, and a browser-based application manager for optional application access through intranets.
Jukebox management software is offered separately. The software seamlessly integrates the jukebox on the network to all CD Net application capabilities providing immediate, controlled network access to all jukebox discs.
Easy Installation
It takes only a few minutes to install the server software from the distribution CD ROM. The optional client software can be installed remotely over the LAN from a central directory on the NT server, or from any workstation on the network.
Advanced Capabilities
DVD-ROMs and CD-ROMs become fully browsable native NT network shares. Discs appear under shares as subdirectories through the embedded volume grouping feature providing efficient and flexible organization of an unlimited quantity of discs across the network.
Powerful Administration Tools
Advanced performance tools provide central monitoring of usage and performance statistics on every DVD and CD on the network. The graphical display provides instant access to powerful network diagnostics to simplify troubleshooting.
High-Performance Hard Disk Cache
For maximum performance, CD Net allows caching of DVD-ROM drives and CD-ROM drives onto a designated hard drive. Heavily used or multi-media discs can be shared at hard drive speed with all the convenience of CD Net's robust application management features.
Native NT Security
CD Net seamlessly supports native NT domain security for all shares. Users are granted or denied access to disc applications based upon their membership to designated NT security groups.
Extended Connectivity
CD Net v4 for Windows NT runs as a native NT service, fully utilizing NT's multi-protocol and multi-LAN capabilities. CD Net is compatible with TCP/IP, IPX, NetBEUI, NFS, Appleshare, and Microsoft's Services for NetWare to enable efficient connectivity to mixed network environments. A wide range of workstations may connect to the CD Net server including PCs running Windows, NetWare client software, Macintosh, OS/2, and MS-DOS (with LAN Manager or LAN Server).
Web Access to Applications
Meridian's Slingshot! application launcher allows users to view any kind of DVD or CD application on intranets using a web interface, including traditional Windows or DOS CDs, or media containing graphics or HTML files. Webmasters can easily incorporate CD/DVD applications, customize the look and feel using the provided web page templates, and control access to sets of applications for particular users.
Automatic Setup
New discs may be automatically shared when inserted, or held until the administrator is ready to share them. Subdirectories in volume-grouped shares are automatically named as new discs are inserted providing convenient and effortless administration when disc changes occur.
Point & Click Simplicity
CD User, Meridian's optional client application enables users to select and run CD/DVD-ROM applications with a simple point-and-click. The administrator configures the system to automatically distribute administration changes to end user workstations.
Remote Management for Multiple Servers
Meridian's unique CD Manager application enables local or remote management of CD/DVD-ROM services on one or several file servers concurrently. With full integration into NT's native services, administrators can enjoy cross-platform management of multiple servers.
