The Market
Mid-range computer systems, network servers, and high-end workstations
are the backbone of many businesses and institutions today. These systems
handle a wide range of mission-critical work, from the high-volume processing
of customer transactions to the design and engineering of new products.
Quantum developed the DLT 2000XT half-inch cartridge tape drive to preserve
and protect the crucial data these systems generate — quickly, easily,
dependably, and cost-effectively.
Power to Get the Job Done Fast
With the pressure to get the job done faster increasing in every industry,
the Quantum DLT 2000XT drive has the performance people demand. It features
a
1.25 megabytes per second native sustained transfer rate with a native
storage capacity of 15 gigabytes (GB) per cartridge. Add data compression
and you can
boost capacity to 30 GB with a transfer rate of 2.5 megabytes (MB)
per second. As a result, the DLT 2000XT drive delivers one of the
industry's best
combinations of performance, capacity, and price.
Bulit-In Scalability to Handle Growing
Backup Needs
Since hard disk storage needs seem to be continually increasing, the
Quantum DLT 2000XT drive comes with built-in flexibility for adding greater
backup
capacity. It can be configured as either a five- or seven-cartridge
random access library — and deliver unattended backup of 36 GB in 8 hours,
or up to 105 GB in
24 hours.
Add Functionality Without Changing the
Drive
The DLT 2000XT drive also features unique tape-loadable firmware that
allows you to easily update the drive's microcode, so you can add capabilities
just by changing software. Using the same technique, you can also customize
the SCSI-interface parameters to adapt the drives to many different applications
and
situations.
Quantum Quality and Reliability
We work hard to make every Quantum drive a hard worker. The results
of our efforts are very apparent in the Quantum DLT 2000XT drive. To ensure
accuracy, we use a number of advanced technologies, including advanced
DLT linear recording technology, a precision tape guidance system, and
an adaptive
control mechanism. For dependability, the drive read/write head is
rated for a life of 30,000 hours, and the media cartridges at 1,000,000
passes. Each drive also
includes a powerful array of built-in checks and controls for accuracy.
There's Reed Solomon Error Correction Code (ECC), with 64-bit Cyclical
Redundancy
Checking (CRC) of each 4 kilobytes of data on the media. The drive
also performs end-to-end 16-bit CRC on every record overlapped with parity
from
the SCSI bus, and internal parity checking on the cache buffer. All
of these features result in a hard error rate of just 1 per 1017 bits.
When you see the
Quantum name outside, you know there's quality you can trust inside.
