The Quantum DLT 4500 autoloaders meet the requirements for high-capacity
data back-up applications. Each autoloader consists of an elevator mechanism
that provides random or sequential cartridge access between a tape
drive and cartridge magazines. The five-cartridge unit features an eight-inch
form factor,
and is an appropriate table-top solution or can be configured in standard
19-inch equipment racks.

Proven Accuracy
The DLT 4500 autoloader uses the same proven technology found in the
Quantum DLT 4000 tape drive. This includes DLT advanced linear recording
technology, our precision tape guidance system, and highly accurate
adaptive control mechanism. The DLT 4500 autoloader also employs our dependable
elevator mechanism that allows both direct and sequential cartridge
access between the tape drive and cartridge magazine. This gives users
the option of
backing up the entire database or just selected files as needed.
In addition, the DLT 4500 autoloader uses our unique magazine-loading
feature that lets users deal with up to five cartridges as a complete set.
Moreover, a
special interlocking stacking feature allows several sets of tapes
to be stored together on a shelf or in a storage rack for better organization.
Easy Installation and Opertation
The DLT 4500 autoloader is available in both rack-mount and table-top
models. So it’s at home in both a typical office setting as well
as an equipment closet. Measuring just 11.6" H x 16.3" W x 10.2"
L, the DLT 4500 autoloader also fits easily into most standard computer
system enclosures. With a separate SCSI Logical Unit Number (LUN) address
for software control flexibility and implementation of the SCSI-2 command
set, the DLT 4500 autoloader allows
easier media management. The operator control panel also features labeled
LED indicators that display and monitor subsystem operation. In addition,
a mode
select key gives several options for automatic or manual control.
