The Quantum DLT 4700 autoloaders meet the requirements for high-capacity
data back-up applications. Each autoloader consists of an elevator mechanism
that provides random or sequential cartridge access between a tape
drive and cartridge magazines. The seven-cartridge unit features an eight-inch
form factor,
and is an appropriate table-top solution or can be configured in standard
19-inch equipment racks.

The DLT 4700 uses Quantum’s fast, performance-proven DLT 4000 tape
drive, designed especially for demanding, high-volume applications. As
a result, the
DLT 4700 Autoloader delivers a 3.0 MB-per-second data transfer rate
and a 280 GB capacity. To ensure that all that data is accurately recorded
and
retrieved, the DLT 4700 uses advanced linear recording technology,
a precision tape guidance system, and a special adaptive control mechanism.
In addition, a
unique elevator mechanism gives the tape drives both direct and sequential
access to the cartridge magazine. This lets the DLT 4700 manage from one
to seven
cartridges as a single set for easy backup of large databases.

simple and manageable. The DLT 4700 operator control panel features straightforward
LED indicators that instantly show system status at a glance. Control is
