With a capacity of up to 60 disks, the OSL6000 optical library features several design advantages to provide faster data access, simpler operation, and easy integration.
 

Features:

Large Capacity
The OSL6000 is available in two configurations. For large capacity, the 60 disk/2 drive model may be the library of choice yielding a storage capacity of up to 156 GB when using 2.6 GB media. For applications which require a higher level of throughput, the 50 disk/4 drive may be desired.

High Speed Robotics

The OSL6000 incorporates a single vertical elevator mechanism for rapid exchange of disks at a speed of less than four seconds. When the high speed robotics are combined with our high performance optical drives, the OSL6000 delivers one of the best performances of any library in the industry.

Dual Removable Magazines

The OSL6000 features a dual removable magazine design -- the same as with the OSL2001. Two removable 10-slot magazines can be accessed through the front door panel which is secured under lock and key. Since the OSL2001, our entry level library, uses the same removable magazines, one can easily transfer media from one library to another (via removable magazine). The removable magazines provide easy handling of media, a high measure of security, and convenient data portability. As your data storage needs increase, additional magazine racks already pre-loaded with 10 formatted disks can be swapped out conveniently for unlimited expandability.

Supports Both Rewritable and Write Once Media

The OSL-6000 incorporates the SMO-F541 5.25-inch multifunction drive which supports both rewritable and write once (CCW) media. The drive automatically detects which type of media is inserted and is backward compatible with 1.3GB and 650 MB media. Sony offers 5.25-inch rewritable and write once magneto optical disks in 1024 byte and 512 byte sector sizes.

Remote Diagnostics:

Another design advantage of the OSL6000 lies in its remote diagnostics which are available through an external modem. With the remote diagnostics capability and extensive built in tests, one can easily troubleshoot from a distance, accelerating the overall service process.

Simple Display Design

Local operation, including configuration, setup, disk loading/unloading, and built-in diagnostics, is accomplished using 4 push buttons on the front panel. Additionally, there are status lights which indicate which drives are in operation. These features simplify operation and eliminate single line interfaces and DIP-switches.

High Reliability

The exceptional reliability of the OSL6000, compared to other less than 60 slot libraries, is illustrated in the impressive MSBF (Mean Swaps Between Failures) of over 1 million cycles. Moreover, the optical pickup is encased in a shielded cover for greater anti-dust protection.

Easy Service

The OSL6000 comes with a one year on-site limited warranty. Off-site troubleshooting is made easy through the built-in remote diagnostics available through an external modem.
