Product Information
Tracer Technologies introduces the HyperGEAR file system
for CD-Recordable drive arrays, changers and jukeboxes.
Most operating systems provide a way to access a single CD-ROM drive,
using either ISO 9660/ HighSierra/RockRidge discs or native UNIX discs.
The problem is that the methods that work for a single CD-ROM drive
do not scale up to meet your needs.
HyperGEAR provides an intelligent new way to access the
same CD-ROM data, but specifically designed to provide high performance
for hundreds of
CD-ROM discs while simultaneously providing CD Authoring capabilities
all within the same subsystem.
HyperGEAR provides a transparent CD-Recordable interface to your unix platform.
HyperGEAR includes an Open Look/ Motif graphical user interface for creation and management of 1X, 2X and 4X recording sessions.
HyperGEAR supports both virtual and physical image builds
and offers complete flexibility for file conversion and renaming before
commiting your
archival data set to CD-Recordable media.
HyperGEAR supports a wide variety of CD-ROM formats depending on the attached Recorder and Reader hardware.
HyperGEAR also provides a transparent interface for both 512 and 2K sectored CD-Recorders and Readers.
Bundled with HyperGEAR is our world famous HyperROM CD-ROM file system along with our powerful AutoJuke administration software tool.
Once you have completed your authoring session(s) to a given disc, HyperROM
allows you to virtually mount an infinite number of CD-ROM discs on
your system. A magnetic disk-based database, resident under the native
operating system file system , contains and caches all the CD-ROM inode
&
metadata (directory & file attribute information) that is used
for all file and directory lookups. An intelligent scheduling algorithm
provides transparent
access to all the available CD-R and CD-ROM drives contained within
the CD array or jukebox.
HyperGEAR is also capable of operating all the drives
contained in your CD subsystem simultaneously, offering the highest aggregate
throughput
possible. Implementation of an LRU (least recently used) caching scheme
provides automatic magnetic disk cache management to maximize availability
of
both cache and mag disk space. Each CD-ROM cache file can be individually
tuned to provide the best possible performance for a given CD-ROM file
system. Management is made simple with the AutoJuke administration
utility for handling both individual and global disc operations, like import,
export,
mount and unmount, for all drive array and jukebox file system discs.
HyperGEAR also offers an aggregated, single mount point
for NFS exporting of the entire CD-ROM subsystem to NFS clients and as
a UNC
pathname or single drive letter to Lan Manager clients. Any authorized
client can initiate and administer their own remote HyperGEAR authoring
session
from anywhere on the network. Offering seamless integration with all
your existing applications and utilities,
HyperGEAR is CD-Recordable and CD-ROM management software
for the new millenium
