An excerpt from the journal “The South African Freemason”, dated Tuesday, February 19, 1889, covering the ceremony of Consecration of Star of the Rand Lodge, the first Netherlandic Constitution Lodge in Johannesburg, (and the second overall), as well as the dinner and honours that followed. The articles end by giving credit to other publications of the time, and they may have been copied therefrom
A clear, concise and all-encompassing dissertation into what is Freemasonry, and what its teachings and aims are, as well as explaining the Allegory and Symbolism in Masonry. Based on an address delivered by M\Wor\Bro\Edward Conradie, O.S.M., Past Master of our Lodge, (and Past Grand Master of the Grand Lodge of South Africa), at a Special Meeting commemorating the sixty-seventh anniversary of Star of the Rand Lodge, No. 71 G.E.N., and the Fifty-eight year of it’s occupation of the Old Masonic Temple at 80 Plein Street, Johannesburg, South Africa, on Tuesday, 19th July, 1955.
The Star of the Rand Farewell Meeting to the Old Temple took place on Tuesday, 19th November, 1963. It was a Past Masters Working in the 1st Degree. Messages and good wishes were received by the Lodge and the special Messages of farewell from Rt\Wor\Bro\ E. Conradie, who was then Assistant Grand Master and Rt\W\Bro\ G.R. de Villiers, the then Provincial Grand Master of the Transvaal, were printed in the commemorative programme of the Meeting.
