On our
Installation Night, the Grand Master, presented not one but TWO
Fifty-year Jewels to Brethren of Star of the Rand Lodge. (Click

On the 15th June, Bro\Rainer
Moringer, who lives in Linz, Austria, made a trip to South Africa, and we took
the opportunity to raise him to the Sublime Degree of a Master Mason, in one of
our most solemn and sincere and
touching ceremony, with the Brethren excelling in an excellent Working that, I
am sure, will remain with him for as long as he lives.
Our Lodge is 115 years old.
That is quite an historical achievement for South African Lodges, and to herald
this propitious year, the Installation night on the 18th March was a grand
occasion. We were graced with an official visit from Grand Lodge led by the
Grand Master, together with a full delegation from the Provincial Grand Lodge,
led by the Provincial Grand Master, as well as various distinguished Brethren
from the Sister Constitutions. Then the Wor\Master
was installed in the Chair of the Lodge for the 3rd successive year,
(a first for Star of the Rand), the ceremony was concluded with the
presentation, by the Grand Master, of 50-years jewels to two Past Masters of our
Lodge who have distinguished themselves in their long and fruitful years of
service to our Lodge. (Click

We have, therefore, started
our quindecentennial
year with pride and remembrance in our history, recognition of our present
achievements and with optimism and confidence in the future. Our planned workings for the next few Meetings are already set up.
The BB\
of Star of the Rand Lodge have identified various needs by local beneficence
organisations, and have recently managed to facilitate the donation of an
industrial gas stove and pot, as well as an oven to the Johannesburg Childrens' Home, who was in serious
need of these appliances.
We are now looking for an
Industrial Tumble Dryer for the same Institution, as theirs is about to break
down for good and they have to wash linen and clothes for 64 children. If anyone can help,
kindly contact the Secretary of the
Lodge. Your assistance will be most appreciated.
The music now playing is "Der Vogelfänger bin ich, ja" from "The Magic Flute"
