Chapter 10: Old Friends And Acquaintances

     Place: P8X-169
      Date: 09/03/00
      Time: 0230 SGC Time

"SHIT!" Jack yelled as the tree beside him exploded. "TAKE COVER!" He wasn't sure if yelling the obvious would have any effect on his people, but he had to try to warn them. The blast had caught him by surprise.
He turned around to face his camp and found everyone was still asleep. He ran over and tried to shake them awake. No one even blinked. He heard a figure approaching him. He wheeled around, brought his gun up and stared into the face of Ra. "But you're dead." He stammered out. "I saw your ship explode." Ra continued to approach him. His eyes started to glow as he brought the ribbon device into view. Jack tried to fire his weapon but it wouldn't work. Jack was seriously beginning to panic. He tried to yell as Ra placed the device on his forehead, but nothing came out. As he collapsed, he saw the same burn marks on his team. He'd been too late to save them.
"Colonel? Sir? Wake up!" Carter whispered in his ear.
Jack awoke with a jerk. "What? Where's Ra? Where'd he go?"
Daniel stared at Jack when he mentioned Ra. "Jack, did you say Ra?"
"Yes I did Daniel. He was right here. You all were already dead, thanks to that ribbon device of his." Jack was rubbing his temples, trying to sort out what had happened.
"But he's dead Jack. We killed him on Abydos."
"I know that Daniel! But I'm telling you he was here and you all were dead!"
"Who's dead?" Vansen asked as she and Chic approached the huddled SG-1 members.
"No one is dead. It was just a dream." Jack replied angrily as he stood up, shrugging off Carter and Daniel's assistance up.
"Sounded more like a nightmare to me Colonel." Chic told him. "What did you dream?"
"It's not important. It's just an old nightmare coming back to haunt me. Let's just get this damn mission over with and get back to the SGC." And with that said, Jack laid back down and rolled over, facing away from the camp and ignoring any further inquiries into his dream.
The observer silently retreated away from the camp. These were the ones that would suffer his revenge. Now to set the trap.

     Later on that day....

"You appear to be agitated O'Neill. Is there anything wrong?" Teal'c asked after hearing Jack snap at Vansen for the sixth time that day.
"Why do you think something is wrong Teal'c? Isn't everyone entitled to a little privacy?" Jack was sick of being around people.
"You are yelling at every little thing that anyone does. I have not seen you this agitated since you and I went fishing." Teal'c reminded him. "Perhaps you need another vacation."
Jack stopped walking and looked at Teal'c. "Teal'c, I appreciate your concern. Really I do. But what I need is to get off this damn planet. It's giving me a case of the creeps."
"What is the creeps?" Teal'c raised his eyebrow, the inquisitive one.
Jack sighed. "It means that it's making me nervous." Jack started walking again.
Teal'c thought this over for a second and continued walking. The group walked in silence for the next hour or so until they heard a noise coming from behind them. They turned in time to see Anubis emerge from behind a tree, and then all went black.
Another adventure? Or continue this one?
