|  Chapter 15: The Meeting
|
    Place: P8X-169      Date: Unknown |
Sam felt her head throbbing long before she ever opened her eyes. She knew they were in a bad place. She had read about Ra and how the Colonel and Daniel had killed him. Well, they thought they had killed him. After listening for a few moments, she decided that she was in a room with several other people, and no one had noticed that she had been awake. Which probably meant that everyone else was either unconscious or that she had been separated from her team.
Slowly opening her eyes and sitting up, she quickly surveyed her situation. What she saw amazed her. She was sitting on a couch of some sort that backed up against one of the walls of her room. There were several couches and chairs in the room, and one very large bed. The bed was outlined by sheer, lightly gold-tinted curtains, with deep, blood red drapes tied around the bedposts by gold cording.
Sam stood up and walked around the room. The walls were covered with the same red drapes with plush, gold-tinted carpeting lining the room. Several wood tables were in the room. Each table had been elaborately carved and finished in coal black with what appeared to be gold leaf in the detailed recesses of each piece. The bed linens were ivory colored with gold and red accents. 'Whoever's room this is', Sam thought, 'they sure do like red and gold.'
Passing by a panel, the red wall in front of her silently slid aside to reveal a mirror. Looking at herself, she gasped at the fact that she hadn't noticed her clothing before. She was now dressed in what could only be described as something she saw Aphrodite wear on that Hercules show that Teal'c likes to watch. Except, instead of pink, hers was the same ivory color of the bed, with gold accents. 'Why a two piece?' She thought. The top was nothing more than a bra with folded fabric that hung down just enough to reveal a little too much cleavage for her taste. And the skirt wasn't much better. Hi-cut on the sides with two straight panels that hung in the front and back, with a gold band of fabric that ran along the three sides of the skirt. The waistband was ivory with red beads placed every 2 inches around it. "I'll never live this down if the Colonel sees me." She spoke out loud, not expecting a reply.
"Why would you not want for him to see you this way?" The voice startled Sam and she spun around to see a kindly looking woman standing just a few feet away from her. She once had dark brown hair, perhaps even black, but now it was mainly gray and pulled into a bun. She wore similar clothing to Sam except hers was a dress that graced the figure of a slightly rotund, older woman.
"Where did you come from?" Sam asked looking around for any signs of a door.
"Why would you not want this man to see you like this? Would he not approve?" The older woman had ignored Sam's question. The lady walked over to one of the couches and sat down.
Sam followed her. "What's your name? I'm Sam." Sam offered her hand to the woman, but the old woman just ignored her. Sam sighed and dropped her hand to her side. "Okay. I don't want him to see me like this because the last time he did he made jokes about it for a week. It's not that he wouldn't approve, it's just that I'd never live it down."
"Do you not like your garments? I chose them for you myself." The woman finally answered one of her questions. "My name is Ellsa."
"They're very pretty but it's not something that I get a chance to wear very often." Sam answered as her hand played with the sides of the skirt. "Can you tell me how long I've been here?"
"You and your friends have been here for what you call weeks."
"Wow! It doesn't seem like it's been more than a few days."
"That is because you angered Ra. Never speak to him until you are spoken to. Once he was done with your punishment, he turned you over to me. That was yesterday."
"Punishment? I don't remember any punishment." The last thing that she could remember was seeing Ra emerge from the sarcophagus.
"I know. I have the ability to erase certain things from a person's brain. Like removing the memory of their torture. In your case, it was not so bad. Two of your men suffered the worse fate."
Sam instantly knew she referred to the Colonel and Daniel, the two had fought against him before.
The woman stood up and walked over to a panel on the wall and waved her hand in front it. It slid open to reveal another chamber, very similar to the one that Sam was in. She saw a very large group of women talking and for all appearances, apparently having a party of some sort.
"What's going on in there?" Sam pointed to the other women.
"The same thing that we will be doing shortly." The woman walked through the opening.
"Ellsa, there were 2 other women with me. Do you know where they would be?"
Ellsa made her way through the crowd and stopped in front of the refreshments. She handed Sam a glass that had a blue colored liquid in it. Sam was looking around the room. The only thing that made this room different from the one she had woken up in was the lack of a bed. "All females will be here at the appointed hour. You will see them again." Sam noticed that all of the other women were wearing the same thing she was. Only Ellsa was wearing different clothing. Was Ellsa some kind of leader among the women?
Sam was getting a little bored listening to all of the women talk. She was surrounded by slave women. She saw a panel slide open and she instantly recognized two of the five women that walked in. Ellsa noticed them too, stood up and started walking towards Chic and Vansen with Sam following closely behind her.
As they approached each other, a chime sounded throughout the room. 'Hidden speakers' Sam thought. She saw the wall at the far end of the room vanish, like it had been a hologram. All the women started kneeling down. The trio looked at each other and decided it would be best to blend in for the moment, and knelt down.
Anubis and his guards appeared and stopped in front of Ellsa. She pointed to Vansen and he walked over to her and forced her from the room.
Sam turned to Ellsa. "Why did you give them Vansen? What's going to happen to her?"
Ellsa smiled. "She's been chosen. No more questions. You will return to your room." Ellsa turned and walked away.
     Sam's headache returned.
