What is Playstation 2?
Playstation 2 is Sony Corporation's next generation system, designed to suceed the original 1995 gaming machine, although still in development preliminary specs show that this system has the most power of any console out there and will offer the biggest leap in graphic performance since the original playstation.
At E3 Sony announced the Playstation 2 will be released in the United States and Europe on October 26th, 2000 for $299.

Also at E3 Sony announced the suggested retail price of the ps2 in the United States is $299. Games are expected to be anywhere from $39.99 (for games on the CD format) to $59.99 (for games on the DVD format).
The price of the Playstation 2 in Japan is 39,800 Yen ($360) and games will be sold for 6,800 Yen ($63). The reason for the high price is because all hardware components in PS2 are proprietary (meaning all elements were made specifically for PS2). Although this may seem like a lot, when you consider what you're getting it's definitely worth it.
