The Pay-to-Surf FAQ
Thank you for visiting the pay-to-surf frequently asked questions.
What is a cashbar?
A cashbar is the vehicle through which advertisements are displayed
on your computer's monitor. They are approximately 70 pixels tall,
and 600 pixels wide (four of these sentences is about 75 pixels).
Most cashbars are "dockable," meaning that they latch themselves to
either the top or the bottom of the screen - they usually don't cover up
the folders and icons on the desktop, instead pushing those items into
the remaining space on the monitor.
Can I use more than one cashbar at once?
Yes. Just make sure they aren't overlapping, because this prevents
the bottom cashbar from being active. You usually need Internet Explorer.
How should I refer people?
I recommend telling those of your friends whom are active internet
users. Explain the program to them, and either provide them with
your membership number (to be input at sign-up) or give them your associated
links (some companies provide these when you sign up.
Also, I highly recommend using the web to advertise these companies
(much like I am doing). This is an easy way to reach people inactively,
meaning you don't have to directly proposition anyone. Just use your
membership links for people to go sign up with.
How often do I get paid?
Every company I've signed up with pays at the beginning of each month,
as long as your account has reached a certain amount. If it hasn't
reached say, $20, then the balance is carried over to the next month.
How many companies should I sign up for?
It depends on what you are trying to do. If you want to make
money by surfing yourself, then sign up for the top 4 or 5 on the list.
If you want to make money through referrals, sign up for every company
you think people would want to be a part of.
What is a CPM?
A CPM is "cost per thousand," mille being the Latin prefix for
thousand.
What are Fakesurf and Myadvantage?
These are software items that are designed to cheat these pay-to-surf
companies. I do not recommend you use them, especially if you have
a lot of referrals. If you do want to try them out, just perform
a search engine query for the titles. You'll find them quickly enough.
Can I get caught cheating?
Yes and no. It depends which company you are trying to cheat
- some have implemented recognition tools into their software that weed
out the cheaters. Eventually, most of these cashbar programs will
have the same features, making cheating more and more risky. You
may as well be clean, otherwise every cashbar update (and they occur very,
very often) will be a scare.
How much do you make?
I received 8 checks in January totalling $208.64. I expect that
amount to go up a little bit each month.
