Although you'd never know it if you looked at her, Yuffie comes from a long line of Ninja. She forced herself into the group just to get a "certain something". She's sneaky, arrogant and "way" selfish. But with her super shuriken and her special skills, there isn't anyone else you'd rather have on your side in a fight.

To get Yuffie to join you, you must fight in any forrest until you fight her. (About a 1 in 15 chance) You must beat her, then talk to her and choose the bottom answer, then top, then bottom, then top, then bottom once more. Now you have Yuffie!
