Hong Kong Pearl, Levittown's ethnic dining jewel

Looking for a perfect date setting, but demand an exotic food selection? Well, don’t expect to find any American food at Hong Kong Pearl.

Located in Langhorne Square on E. Lincoln Hwy. right next to Chuck E. Cheese, Hong Kong Pearl promises excellence in service and quality of food.

The setting in this restaurant is simply amazing. Upon first entering, you and your date will be in complete awe. The lighting is very romantic and the tables are set up perfectly for a couple or even for a large family.

The only obstacle in getting your seat immediately is dodging the hungry customers in the takeout line. They can get nasty as they wait for their General Tso’s chicken combination special.

Once seated, water and an incredible tea are set forth on your table. The promptness and politeness of the waitress was superb. I ordered egg drop soup ($1.35) and General Tso’s chicken ($9.95), and my date ordered just white rice.

My date, Katie Rohrer said, “I love the food here, but the white rice with a little soy sauce is absolutely the best.” Rohrer's heartyplate of fluffy white rice was more than enough to satisfy her appetite.

As usual, the egg drop soup came out quickly. The tasty soup hosted a light, creamy broth with just the right amount of egg flavor. The kiss of scallions which danced throughout the broth gave the soup the zest it needed. With some crunchy fried noodles to accent my appetizer, I was enjoying the dining experience of my life.

When I thought the meal was over, the General Tso’s chicken was placed before me. I was overwhelmed by the bitter-sweet aroma which invited me to dive into my entree. The crispy chicken was glistening with a tangy amber sauce. My fork coasted through the tender, juicy chicken pieces just before I lifted them to my mouth.

I ate the most I could and asked to get the rest to go. “I love bringing home my mother a huge platter of their chicken, it’s better than flowers!”Senior Jordan Schlossberg said.

The only problem with my meal was that this set my pocket back a little compared to 99 cents for a Burger King double cheese burger. But the quality and quantity of the food is definitely worth

the money.
But be prepared to pay the price, as most of their entree’s can fill up an entire family. Don’t be fearful of this though, there will be plenty of leftovers for you to take home to the parents.

If you would rather have you romantic rendezvous or family gathering at home, be sure to call 215-949-1233 and order your meal for pick-up. The line may be weary, but the food will always be warm.

This restaurant definitely deserves two thumbs up from all the critics. “I have been on many dates, and none have compared to the trip I took here,” senior Laurie Shadovitz said.

We agree with Shadovitz and suggest you make you next Chinese experience, a Hong Kong Pearl experience.
