As the school year heads into the second semester,
seniors will soon be graduating and juniors should begin their college
quest.
In order for the senior year not to be dependant
on deadlines, and to make it run smoother, you should start planning.
Now is the time to start looking into colleges that have what you
want. Here are some helpful hints for the juniors and seniors that
dont even know where to start.
Juniors: Talk to your counselor and/or teachers
about taking SAT II: Subject Tests this spring. Even if a college
does not require them, Subject Tests can often supply some positive
support to an application. For more information, visit the SAT II
Learning Center.
If youre taking an AP Exam or the SAT II:
Writing Subject Test, learn about preparation aids books, APCD and
EssayPrep.
Seniors: Be sure all the necessary application
materials such as transcripts and recommendations have been sent
to your chosen colleges. For helpful advice, go to www.Collegeboard.com
and refer to "College Applications."
Its not too late to apply to colleges. Less
selective campuses have later application deadlines. You can find
out colleges application deadlines using "College Search"
link.
Ask your counselor to complete any necessary mid-year
school reports. They are typically due this month.
Start studying for AP Exams, if applicable.
Remember: dont get Senioritis. Colleges still look at you
second semester grades.
