WHO AM I? WHAT AM I DOING HERE?
My name, as you may have guessed, is Mark Ehrman.
I'm a resident of Iowa City, Iowa and the owner of University Professional Painting.
My company specializes in property management maintenance painting -
a good market in a rental intensive college town like Iowa City.
We've painted thousands of apartments since our founding in 1991.
I've had hundreds of full and part-time subcontractors work for me over the past decade.
I could do this job in my sleep.
But as a friend of mine has put it, "Painting is a harsh mistress".
Her once charming ways have grown tiresome, and her beauty has begun to fade.
I've found a new love. A true love.
I've fallen for her.
Madly. Deeply. Truly.
Her name?

Oh, yes. I know. I've heard it all before...
I'm a very strange guy.
No one I know owns any of Edward Tufte's books,
(they haven't even heard the name!).
When I talk to people about this wonderful thing called Information Architecture
they all get the same fixed expression on their faces.
A blank, polite sort of look.
They don't get it. They just don't understand.
What's wrong with them?!
But seriously now...
I am very enthusiastic about this field (as if you hadn't noticed)!
I'm so enthusiastic that I'm leaving my painting business behind
and beginning a brand new career in web development.
