BOOTHBY
Species: Unknown humanoid (presumably human)
Age: appears 75-80 standard years
Place of origin: Unknown (presumably Earth)
Occupation: Groundskeeper, Starfleet Academy
Introduced in the TNG episode "The First Duty," the irascible Boothby is at first meeting, as Capt. Picard once described, "a mean-spirited, vicious old man." As usual, nothing is as it seems.
Starfleet Academy boasts some of the most beautiful landscaping on the planet, and every leaf, every blade of grass is under the aegis of this gruff old man. Boothby is extremely serious about his job, and every cadet soon learns to be wary of damaging the his precious flora, or else be berated by him.
Beneath that exterior, though, is a good man who truly cares about the young people around him. As he befriended a young Jean-Luc Picard and year later, Wesley Crusher, this new generation of cadets has and will find him a bottomless source of both wisdom and comfort. First and foremost, however, Boothby is an exceptional listener.
Having already become confidante to Jaredan Aquino, and occasional friend
to Kara Lionetti, it is unknown if other cadets will try to avail themselves
of his help. It is likely, though, that the knowledge of this is
totally in Boothby's hands.
SUPERINTENDANT
ADMIRAL MARTA BRAND
Species: Human
Age: 65
Place of origin: London, Earth
Occupation: Superintendent, Starfleet Academy
As it is the duty of a single captain to command an entire starship, the directing of Starfleet Academy falls into the hands of Admiral Marta Brand.
Adm. Brand is a tough, no-nonsense administrator, as well as a top-level Command School instructor. She expects the finest out of the young people under her command, and is sorely and personally disappointed when she does not get it. However, it seems that Brand has a good understanding of what it is like to be young, and can occasionally surprise a cadet with leniency, as she did early in both Jaredan's and Kara's cadet careers.
The most likely occasions to see Adm. Brand is either during Academy functions, congregations, or if Gamma Team gets in trouble.
