"Hey! That's a new paint job!" My love for the Transformers extends even to collecting non-transformable die-cast cars in the likeness of the characters (or at least the same make or model of vehicle that the characters turn into). This began in 1999 as a small collection of quick and inexpensive repaints (Hot Wheels and Matchbox brand cars are only a buck apiece), but as the years passed and the collection grew (over 170 and counting), a number of these projects ended up being the result of some fairly intensive (and expensive) kitbashing. There are a lot more toy cars on the market than toy planes, so as a result I've ended up with far more Autobot characters here than Decepticons. (If I had access to more F-15 jets, you'd better believe I'd be doing die-cast versions of all the generic background Decepticon jets.) Also, this page tends to favor the first couple years' worth of the original Transformers toy line, if only because most commercially-available die-cast toys are based on real-life vehicles, and G1 significantly diverged from existing Earth designs after the first couple of years. (Incidentally, there are still a few elusive characters that I really want to do in this format, but haven't found, or figured out how to build, the correct vehicle forms yet.) Obviously, some of these projects aren't really made of die-cast metal at all. There are several prominent Transformers characters who don't have traditional vehicular modes, but which I still wanted to create at this scale in order to add to the collection, so as a result there are a number of projects here that are simply miniaturized plastic representations of those characters. I've classified these as die-cast scale projects. What follows is a collection of links to individual character shots, as well as a few group shots. Projects that represent different transformations for the same character are on the same page, but projects representing different incarnations of that character (like a disguise or alternate color scheme) get their own page. Most of these images are life-sized or bigger. Some of the names below are placeholders for projects I haven't finished or uploaded yet (it takes time to build and paint these things), but if you see a link, that one's ready for viewing. At some point, I'm going to start including comparison pictures of the characters from the cartoon series in their vehicle modes (or pictures of the toys, if they never appeared in relevant media). Pages that have been updated with new screen captures will be denoted with this () icon.
