Mars is the fourth planet to the sun and it is the next closest planet to earth. It is 141,600,000 miles from the sun (227,900,000 KM).The diameter of Mars is 4,223 miles (6,796 kilometers) , a bit over half the diameter of Earth.
Pluto and Mercury are the only two planets that are smaller than Mars. Mars is the seventh largest planet in our solar system. Its orbit is 227,940,000 km (1.52 AU) from the sun. Its mass is 6.4219e23 kg. Although Mars is much smaller than Earth, its surface area is about the same as the land surface of Earth.

Mars also has two moons.
