The Order of the Obelisk is the newest and largest of
three Orders within the Brotherhood of the Dark Jedi, a subgroup of the
Emperor's Hammer Strike Fleet. We are dedicated to the use of Dark Forces
II: Jedi Knight as a way to compete against one another, but we also have
many other opportunities for our members, such as fiction. The Obelisk
are the premiere ground troops within the Dark Brotherhood and often act
as bodyguards to important officials. The Obeliskan's skill with the lightsaber
is known throughout the galaxy; in fact, many Light Jedi have turned to
the Dark Side for the sole purpose of studying with the Obelisk Masters.
The Obelisk members are also part of Houses and Clans, another smaller
level of organization within the Brotherhood. The House rivalries are strong
but loyalty to the Order is stronger. To further structurize the organization,
each member holds a certain rank and possibly a title or position. These
are all displayed on the member's ID Line, which is a filing system of
sorts. With over 1,500 members, it would get confusing without the use
of this system. The member can also display the medals they have earned
through this ID line. Most of the medals, ranks, and titles are the
same in every order, however, the more higher ranked you get, the more
distinct the names become based on Order.
The following snippet about our Order was taken from the
Dark Side Compendium:
"The Obelisk is an order reserved for those who serve
the Empire in its military forces, but are not by their nature pilots or
navy personnel. This will most often mean stormtroopers, or similar ground
personnel. The Obelisk is engaged as an elite arm of the Dark Brotherhood
stationed on-board the flagship Avenger. Members of the Obelisk are concerned
with ground warfare, especially concentrating on the skills of melee combat.
Soldiers of the Obelisk are some of the most skilled wielders of lightsabers
in the Galaxy, and the constantly practice this skill, honing it to a razor
edge. The Obelisk is lead by the High Commander. Houses allied with or
composed of Obelisk warriors will attempt to subdue their enemies through
a policy of strong diplomacy and threats. Often the Obelisk will teeter
on the brink of inter-house war before backing down."
