Walking down the Royal Mile.

Anyone could buy a torch, find another in the crowd to light it, and join the parade.    The parade started at Edinburgh Castle and ended at the other end of the Royal Mile at a museum campus, the Dynamic Earth, near where the new Scottish Parlaiment is being built.   This was the first official event of Edinburgh's Hogmanay celebration.
