Castle entrance

The entrance to Edinburgh Castle.

Statues of William Wallace and Robert the Bruce stand in niches to either side.   Screenwriter Russel Wallace wanted to know more about these two Scottish heroes and his research led to him write Braveheart.   Above the entrance, just below the royal crest with lion rampant, the latin: "Nemo me impune lacesit."   "No one provokes me with impunity."
