The Luxembourg. Marie De Medici's (Louis XIII's mother) elaborate mansion. She lived in it only a short time before Cardinal Richelieu banished her from Paris. It's the seat of the French Senate now.
The large pool in the gardens behind the Palais attracted hordes of Parisians and tourists, some of whom sailed model boats in the water.
